A college is a small world of students whose lives center about the campusea world within a world. It is filled with countless daily occurrences, some of which we live, others we hear about; but, to most, they go unnoticed. It is a world in which sorrow and success can follow in the space of an hourefrom lingering doubt following a tough exam to anticipation of a big weekend. T0 the student, the most serious world problem can seem a little smaller and more remote when compared to last nights date, final exam, or the latest tuition fee. Actually his removal is more mental than physical; it is a sort of preoccupation with studies and dates and campus activities and . . . life. in general, which leaves little time for thoughts of problems of national and international scope. We are aware of world events yet somehow removed, if not remote, and we continue in our little world apartethe college. The 1966 CALCIID presents the college world as seen under the glow of the Limestone Limelight. If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind. . . . your friend is your needs answered. He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanks- giving. And he is your board and fireside. For you come to him with your hunger and you seek him for peace. As the Limelight dims and the CALCIID goes to press for another year, we breathe a Asigh of relief and disbelief that everything is done and we can begin acting like human beings again. But more than this, it is a time for a final word of appreciation-a few thank yous that may have been left unsaid during the rush of it all. Without pictures the CALCIID could not exist. A special word of thanks to Mr. Willis for his ex- cellent pictures, but more than that his coming through with those last minute rush jobs. To Sandra Cheney, who worked so hard as photography editor first semes- teremany thanks, Cheney. Those wild ideas weren't so wild after all. To Mary Sue Stewart, who so ably took over the job, goes my deepest appreciation. With- out you the book could have never gone to press. Bouquets are also in order for Andy Dabney, who worked so ably with Greek and class pictures, and for Kay Taylor, who not only did such a fine job with the ads but who was also Willing to do anything she could for the good of the cause. It is always good to know there is someone you can depend upon. Special thanks are in order for Mrs. Wheeler, who always had time in her busy schedule for the CALCIID. To Judy Peden, who could ac- complish the most staggering typing feats, my grati- tude. A well deserved thank you to Terri Alexander, who I could always depend upon for that lay-out I was too lazy to do myself. For just the encouragement we needed when the going got tough, a sincere thanks to Mr. Whit Cline, our Taylor representative. Finally, to my family and those special people who have understood and forgiven being placed firsteonly after the CALCIID, my sincere gratitude and love. It has been a busy year. While we worked, the CALCIID was our book; now it is yours. May the memories it holds serve you well. Charlotte Steinhardt Editor 1966 CALCIID 1 1t 1:413:11 41 War. $?,- - ,1'
