SOKOKIS Frlday Aprll 16 Saturday Aprll 17 Sunday Aprxl 18 Monday Aprll 19 CLASS TRIP We-Mrs Nlchols Frances Phllpot Carmen Ver mette Lena Sprague Carolyn Oliver Clayton Chute Frank Polcaro Ronald Carroll Colm Squlres My ron Edgerly and Davld Patterson left Blddeford about 10 15 p m We motored to Boston wlth Bux ton and Hollls Hugh School Semors and then changed at the Park Square Bus Termlnal On the way to New York we slept a llttle roused up when the bus breakdown delayed us and finally arrlved 1n New York at 9 45 Saturday morning With sultcases ID hand we found our way to our rooms and looked longmgly at beds but there just wasn t any tlme to stop We hurrled out to break fast and then to the Radlo Clty Muslc Hall where we marvelled at the Easter Pageant and enjoyed the movle Rose Marle After dmner we went out to the Statue of Liberty ln a downpour of ram Then we headed back to the hotel and had supper remember the chlcken dmner we had ln the Henry Hudson Hotel? In the evemng some went to a movle and some stayed at the hotel Wonderful a warm and sunny day' Some went up to the early servlces at St Patrlck s Cathedral At 8 30 we left for Washlngton accompanled by Lxm lngton and Porter It was a pleasant trlp down the New Jersey Turnplke and our obllglng drlver polnted out hlgh spots to us Remember the famous whlte steps ln Balt1rnore Everyone enjoyed the all too brxef stop at Annapolls We arrlved ln Wash lngton at 6 45 staylng at the Harrlngton Hotel Some went to the movles and enjoyed seemg Betty Hutton m person Others just strolled about as typlcal sxghtseers The bus plcked us up at the hotel early for a round of slght seelng We vlslted Arlmgton Natlonal Ceme Y . . - . , 1 ' 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' . . , T . . Tuesday Aprll 20 Our first visit today was to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving Then remember the walt ln front of the White House? Pictures taken ln front of the Capitol Building We especially enjoyed our vlslt with our own Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smlth Most of us ate lunch in the Senate Cafeteria and then went to the Franciscan Monastery Remember that familiar 813 Next came a VlS1t to the F B I Bulldmg and that evening the sport minded went to a baseball game and the rest to a movie at the Piccadilly Hotel about one oclock Every thlng last year s senlors told us about the Plccadllly elevators was right by the way' After lunch we saw the television show Stars on Parade Thursday April 22 Thls was the Hrst of our two extra days ln New York We put it to good use going to the Bronx Zoo and ln the evening to the Circus Friday April 23 Some of the early birds went to the Dave Garroway Show The rest of the day was filled with shopping a television show On Your Account the movle Knights of the Round Table and some wise souls went back to the hotel and rested up for another long bus rlde After supper some went to the Julius La Rosa show Then we all met at the hotel and finally bag and baggage set out for home Back in Biddeford Saturday noon and well always re member the trip Frances Phllpot Lena Sprague !
