INGEBORG AND PARENTS INGEBORG BERGREEN OUR FRIEND FROM GERMANY INGEBORG BERGREEN, an exchange student from Munich, Germany, taking part in the American Field Program lived among us for one year, making her home with Dr. and Mrs. F. M. Flickinger and their family. Her stay in Lima was sponsored by the Lima Kiwanis Club. While a senior at Lima Senior High, she participated in several activities. They were as follows: The Student Council, Delta Chi Drama Club, the Block L , the French Club, Girls Athletic Asociation and the Y-teens. In her native Germany she attended an all girls school where she will have to finish her required thirteenth school year. On June twenty-two she will leave Lima for a two-week's bus trip to Washington and New York which will complete her stay in the United States. Then she has to say good-bye to America and return to her small family-mother, father and 19-year old brother-thankful for a wonderful year of rich experience and friendship. Ingeborg, using a trite but true expression, we should like to say, The pleasure was all ours . We've enjoyed your being with us and invite you to return again. May all of your fondest dreams come true. Again, best wishes from all the students and faculty of Lima Senior High School. Q 'H if Ili 5' ii, ll Q! Q' 'wal A it HER SCHOOL IN GERMANY -35-

HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1963 Well, we've finally made it! For as long as we can remember, we looked up to the seniors, patiently awaiting the year of dignity and respect. Full of ambition in our initial year, we elected Mike Heck, President, Bernie Miller, Vice President, Diane Vogelgesang, Secretary, and Jim Thomas, Treasurer, to lead our class on its way. We remember our first thrilling football game, attending our first school dance, and excitingly participating in school pro- ductions. As that first year came to a close, we elected Peggy Shingledecker as attendant to the May Queen. After a hectic and successful year as sopho- mores, we again-this time more confidently- proudly took our place as juniors. After several weeks of planning, buying, painting, and decorating, we gave the annual junior-Senior Prom which was called Ha- waiian Fantasy. How proud we were to see all our weeks of work ending in a terrific evening. The officers that led our class that year were jon Molten, President, Charles Evans, Vice President, Pam Gillette, Secre- tary, and jim Thomas, Treasurer. Our May Day attendant was Pam Laibe. One September morning in 1962 we looked around for the upperclassmen whom we had viewed last year with an envious eye, and sud- denly realized that we were the Seniors. This was a great year! Our annual Home- coming Queen was Andrea Beck. Her attendants were Janet Brunk, Pam Ferris, Darlene Helms, Pam Laibe, Mary Maurer, and Judy Tyre. Our class officers were Charles Evans, President, Steve Wilt, Vice President, Pam Gillette, Sec- retary, and jim Thomas, Treasurer. Frank Wilson was elected President of Student Coun- cil. Larry Davis was selected President and Danny Lytle and john McBride were selected Vice Presidents for the Inaugural Ball in February. Again Larry Davis was honored by being chosen Principal on Senior Distinction Day. His administration included Steve Wilt, Assistant Principal, Andrea Beck, Dean of Girls, and Steve Barrington, Dean of Boys. We eagerly plunged into school activities: Student Council, Spartan Showcase, Holiday in Harmony, Whois Who, Springtime Sere- nade, and the All School Play. We sold tickets, called for food donations, set up countless com- mittees, and finally had our money-making project, the Senior Smorgasbord. Our May Day celebrations included the crowning of our radiant queen, Pam Laibe. The queen's court was janet Brunk and Mary Maurer. It was a great year for sports, excelling in football, basketball, baseball, track and cross country, swimming, and tennis. How well we will remember the cheering, the victories, the car caravans, and the Local Boys 158 with their ted-and-white hats. My, how those last fun-filled weeks flew by! Our heads were whirling with the senior as- semblies, the class picnic, Baccalaureate, and then - Commencement. The fight song and the Alma Mater, once just school songs, now have a special and dear meaning to us. All the things we have learned will remain with us forever. We're alumni now. But say, hasn't it been fun at Lima Senior High School. -Pam Gillette
