LOS SOMBREROS ALTOS Los Sombreros Altos has a paid membership of fifty-four students who are enrolled in Spanish classes. The purpose of the club is to provide additional opportunities for enrichment of the course and for speaking Spanish and hearing it. Projects this year were a post game dance with Los Indios de las Americas as the theme: Pen Pal correspondence: the traditional Christmas program: and Pan American Day and Week observation with an exhibit and programs in classes. Senor Octavio Noda from Matanzas, Cuba was our club speaker during Pan American Week. Awards were presented at a Latin American Tea which concluded the year's activities. Club meetings are held on Thursdays five times per year. The club officers are Linda Leatherman, presidenteg Robert Barnhardt, vice-presidenteg Terrye Bergdall. secretariag Clayton Bacon, tesorero. LE CERCLE FRANCAIS Le Cercle Francais provides an opportunity for interested students to learn about the culture and the customs of the French people. This is achieved through slides, movies, and fascinating speakers, many of whom are natives of France. This year the annual French Club dance, called Paris After Dark , was a great success. Proceeds from this money-making project were used for a gift for the department and for a social function for club members. Another of the activities of Le Cercle Francais was the drafting of a constitution. Officers were Linda Wood, President, Betty Long, Vice President, Bobbie Metzger, Secretary, and Sherri Oberley, Treasurer. The advisor was Miss Ann Stanley. -l28-

FUTURE MEDICAL CAREERS CLUB The Future Medical Careers Club consists of twenty girls in grades ten through twelve who are interested in a medical career. The purpose of the group, which meets in 214 every first and third Thursday at 3:30 p.m., is to encourage students in medical careers to acquaint them with the many different types of medical careers, and to learn about the different schools, their requirements, fees. The programs this year were as follows: a trip to the Ottawa Valley Hospital, a trip to the Convalescent Home, a tour of the St. Rita's Treatment Center as well as some interesting movies and talks by prominent Lima medical people. Officers are Andi Leist, Presidentg Linda Percy, Vice-Presidentg Lee Ellen Shuman, Secretary and Treasurerg and Peggy Brown, Corresponding Secretary. Mrs. Ellamae May, School Nurse, is the advisor. -130-
