In September l9h5, ll pupils enrolled in the Freshmen Class of Lima High Scnool Although as a class we did not organize, two of our members, Richard Yorks and Adrian Meyers, gained honors playing on the Junior Varsity basketball team We began our Sophomore year by wel oming Patricia Keenan, Barbara Lefler and Loring Donegan from Saint Rose School, and bidding goodbye to Lorna Hayward and Vivian Herrington Tne next step for our class, which now had fifteen members, was to elect the following officers, President Kenneth D Burmeister, Vice President James Sherman, Secretary Dana Schillinger, Treasurer Robert Menritt On the baseball and basketball teams we were ablely represented by Adrian Meyers, Kenneth Burmeister, Richard Yorks and Dana Schilllnger A succession of raffles, card selling campaigns, a card party and our Sophomore Hop left us with a balance of 377 hh in our treasury as we passed on to our Junior year In our third year of High school, Ruth Wilson joined the class from Portville, and Vivian Brisbane left, thus keeping our Junior Class enrollment at 15 Again we were well represented in baseball and basketoall by Kenneth Burmelster, Dana Schillinger, Adrian Meyers Richard Yorks, Robert Merritt and James Sherman while Barbara Lefler was on the Varsity Cheerleading team The officers we picked for our Junior year were, President Kenneth Burmeister, Vice President June Kingsley, Secretary John Peck, Treasurer Robert Merritt and Student Council representative James Sherman We worked very hard selling play, Aunt M1randa's Will Our Junior Prom held May 28 with George Manning's orchestra providing the music was an immense success In a nomination held throughout the school, Robert Merritt, Joe Shanks and Dana Schillinger were picked to run for President of the Student Council After a hard campaign, Joe Shanks was elected and has proved an able leader When at last our long awaited Senior year arrived, it started off much the same as our Junior year had The 15 members of our class elected President Kenneth Burmeister, Vice President Dana Schtllinger, Secretary John Peck, Treasurer Robert Merritt, and Student Council representatlve Loring Donegan During our preceeding three years, there had been a controversy over Whetnef we should go to New York or Washington on our Senior trip After the class voted to visit New York, we began to think up more ways to raise an additional 3300 While we were engaged in our first project, a magazine sale, we began to practice our Senior play, June Mad Under Miss Slattery's able direction we produced a play which everyone proclaimed one of the best ever put on in Lima High School Everyone had a grand time at our Senior Ball, November 12, dancing to the music of Sonny Allenls orchestra This year we have six boys on the basketball team, Adrian Meyers, Kenneth Burmeister, Dana Schillinger, Richard Yorks, Loring Donegan, And Robert Merritt We owe much of our success to Miss Slattery, our class advisor during our last three years of high school She has given us inspiration in our schoolwork,1n money earning campaigns and prodded us a little bit when we needed it We know now, as the time draws near for us to leave Lima High School, that we have spent some of our happiest days here, and we'll never forget the wonderful friends, teachers and times we've had in Lima High School Ruth Wilson Richard Yorks FLAQS IOTTO OUR rAML SHALL LIJE FOREVER VALEDICTORIAN Ruth H Wilson SALUBETORIAN Kenneth D Burmeiste 13 idf T-shirts, cards, and baked goods and conducted a successful mystery auction and one-act -J C' vi P' rx V : . . The Senlor Class presented a tnree act comedy, June Mad, under tne direction of Miss Slattery October lp The cast of characters was as follows Penny Wood Dr Wood Mrs Wood Chuck Harris G Mervyn Roberts Roger Van Vlecx Milly Lou Fffle Elmer Tuttle Mr Harris Ralph Wentworth Julie Harris Shirley Wentworth Rutn Wilson Kenneth Burmeister Patricia Keenan James bherman Jana Schillinger Jonn Peck June Kingsley Joyce Richardson Adrian Meyers Robert Merritt Richard Yorks Barbara Lefler Lucllle narvey June Mad was a comedy in three acts, concerning the Wood famlly, a very normal but very modern famlly The atmosphere of the house was always full of brlghtness, humor, and affection The play was a dramatization of several days in a g1Pl'S life, when she passes from childhood into womennood. 12

'Ld James and I had heard that some scientists at U C L A had invented a tlme and space machine Having notnlng to do, we tnougnt it would be fun to look ten years into the future, and visit our present classmates So we traveled to the Sunshlne State and looked up Professor McGillihooper He readily consented to send us lnto the future We each entered separate compartments and that was the last I saw ol Jim From the U C L A campus I traveled to Lima As I walked down Main Street, I asked where I might find a reasonably priced car The people told me that Meyer's Auto Service was the best in town Where have I heard the name 'Meyers' before? Why of course, he was one of my classmates I decided then and there that I would visit Mr Meyers It seemed that Adrian had recently bought out Hayes and Andrews and was doing a booming business As I d1dn't intend to stay in Lima very long, Adrian kindly offered me the use of his personal 1939 Special Deluxe Super Ford Convertible to visit other classmates. I thanked him and set out to find some more of my fellow students of ' 9 Driving down College Street, I had the urge to stop at the high school When I came up the steps, I noticed two lovely teachers chatting in the corridor Coming closer I recognized them to be Miss Patricia Keenan and Miss Barbara Lefler Because they were busy with the grade children, and I was in a hurry, we only talked a short while and soon I was on my way As I drove down Spring Brook Hill, I noticed a sign that said nConstruction Ahead, Road Blocked H I got out of my borrowed car, wonderln what was belng done to the road I spoke to a tall handsome man who seemed to be in charge We shook hands and to my surprise I found that he was our own Kenneth Burmeister, great world known engineer He was home on a three week vacation and offered to put in the new bridge As he was busy at the moment, we agreed to meet later at Garey's streamlined soda bar When I returned to my car, I saw that a great trailer truck was parked behind me and I walked back to see if I coulc persuade the driver to let me out Upon opening the cab door, I saw Rich Yorks sitting behind the wheel He recognized me lmmediately and we talked for half an hour or more I discovered that he was the owner of a prosperous line of trans contlnental truck lines He was just drivlng that truck to test it, slnce it was a new model Fe was invited to meet with Kenny and me at Garey's While drlving back through town, I discovered that I was low on gasoline I pulled into a very modern Super Shell station and while my car was being serviced, I went in the station to buy a candy bar Behind the counter I found my old friend and 'partner in crime Jimmy Sherman He told one of his mechanics to service my car FREE That was mighty nice of Jimmy and I thanked him very gratefully and promised to stop again Now with my fuel tank full, I drove along and noticed many herds of cattle grazing in the fields I stopped and looked in amazement, wondering who had that big a herd Soon a bigCadillac came zooming down the road and sreeched to a stop a bare three feet from my bumper Upon looking at the driver, I noticed that it was Ronnie Yorks He almost over whelmed me by his hearty greeting I congratulated him on his success and he invited me to look over his holdings I accepted and soon we entered a mansion like house and his personal secretary ushered us into the office As soon as I got a good look at his secretary, I saw it was good olc Joyce Richardson We had a wonderful half hour before I had to leave to make my trip back to the U C L A campus CLASS FLOWER THE YELLOW ROSE 14 .
