In September l9h5, ll pupils enrolled in the Freshmen Class of Lima High Scnool Although as a class we did not organize, two of our members, Richard Yorks and Adrian Meyers, gained honors playing on the Junior Varsity basketball team We began our Sophomore year by wel oming Patricia Keenan, Barbara Lefler and Loring Donegan from Saint Rose School, and bidding goodbye to Lorna Hayward and Vivian Herrington Tne next step for our class, which now had fifteen members, was to elect the following officers, President Kenneth D Burmeister, Vice President James Sherman, Secretary Dana Schillinger, Treasurer Robert Menritt On the baseball and basketball teams we were ablely represented by Adrian Meyers, Kenneth Burmeister, Richard Yorks and Dana Schilllnger A succession of raffles, card selling campaigns, a card party and our Sophomore Hop left us with a balance of 377 hh in our treasury as we passed on to our Junior year In our third year of High school, Ruth Wilson joined the class from Portville, and Vivian Brisbane left, thus keeping our Junior Class enrollment at 15 Again we were well represented in baseball and basketoall by Kenneth Burmelster, Dana Schillinger, Adrian Meyers Richard Yorks, Robert Merritt and James Sherman while Barbara Lefler was on the Varsity Cheerleading team The officers we picked for our Junior year were, President Kenneth Burmeister, Vice President June Kingsley, Secretary John Peck, Treasurer Robert Merritt and Student Council representative James Sherman We worked very hard selling play, Aunt M1randa's Will Our Junior Prom held May 28 with George Manning's orchestra providing the music was an immense success In a nomination held throughout the school, Robert Merritt, Joe Shanks and Dana Schillinger were picked to run for President of the Student Council After a hard campaign, Joe Shanks was elected and has proved an able leader When at last our long awaited Senior year arrived, it started off much the same as our Junior year had The 15 members of our class elected President Kenneth Burmeister, Vice President Dana Schtllinger, Secretary John Peck, Treasurer Robert Merritt, and Student Council representatlve Loring Donegan During our preceeding three years, there had been a controversy over Whetnef we should go to New York or Washington on our Senior trip After the class voted to visit New York, we began to think up more ways to raise an additional 3300 While we were engaged in our first project, a magazine sale, we began to practice our Senior play, June Mad Under Miss Slattery's able direction we produced a play which everyone proclaimed one of the best ever put on in Lima High School Everyone had a grand time at our Senior Ball, November 12, dancing to the music of Sonny Allenls orchestra This year we have six boys on the basketball team, Adrian Meyers, Kenneth Burmeister, Dana Schillinger, Richard Yorks, Loring Donegan, And Robert Merritt We owe much of our success to Miss Slattery, our class advisor during our last three years of high school She has given us inspiration in our schoolwork,1n money earning campaigns and prodded us a little bit when we needed it We know now, as the time draws near for us to leave Lima High School, that we have spent some of our happiest days here, and we'll never forget the wonderful friends, teachers and times we've had in Lima High School Ruth Wilson Richard Yorks FLAQS IOTTO OUR rAML SHALL LIJE FOREVER VALEDICTORIAN Ruth H Wilson SALUBETORIAN Kenneth D Burmeiste 13 idf T-shirts, cards, and baked goods and conducted a successful mystery auction and one-act -J C' vi P' rx V : . .
