TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF l956 It is a privilege indeed to salute the first class to graduate from our beautiful new Lima Senior High School. This achievement places you in an unique position in the annals of Lima public school history. You have pioneered well in the building of high standards and worthy tradition for the generations to follow. ln turn, it is my sincere belief that you have benefited greatly in innumerable ways from the twelve years in which you have lived in the public schools of this community. For this excellent oppor- tunity you owe a debt of gratitude to both parents and teachers. There is general agreement that education is preparation for complete living, for effective citizen- ship in its broadest sense. Your experiences and learnings over the last twelve years have thus equipped you to live a more meaningful and useful life in the home, in your vocation, and in the com- munity. The diploma, which will be conferred upon you by the Lima City Board of Education on Thurs- day, .lune 7, 1956, will therefore represent a very real achievement. l congratulate you as you go forth to fill vour new role as a mature and intelligent American citizen. May you find your right niche in life, and may you fill that niche with dignity, honor, and loyalty to God, family, and country. Cordially, GORDON G. HUMBERT, Superintendent, Lima Public Schools. It is a great and true privilege to be a part of this first yearbook, first graduating class, and first stu- dent body of Lima Senior High School. While many students have graduated from Lima schools, and many teachers have taught them, only a few of us have been able to participate in this milestone of Lima History. Any change as profound as this one has its prob- lems and compensating advantages. We all have grown together in the process of establishing pro- cedures and traditions. We all can be proud of the way in which both students and faculty have initi- ated a unified school and meaningful school spirit. Much is yet to be done, but much has been done and you are to be congratulated for both the quality and quantity of work accomplished. Next year's students owe much to this year's, and must strive mightily to maintain and advance the good work you have done. You are to be congratulated for your courage, energy and patience in making great progress when you could have settled for less. Seniors, you are leaving us in the midst of our shakedown cruise , our organization. We all are proud of your part and your help. You gave the student body good leadership when they needed it most as the newness began to wear off and the de- sire for unity began to be felt. We pledge you, we will continue the iob so that you will look back with pride on Lima Senior High as your Alma Mater in the years to come. I would like to wish each of you personally God speed and success in your plans and your hopes You are a part of this family We will always wel come you to visit with us and let us know how you are doing We hope you will know we have a helping hand out for you if you ever need us Good luck Harry Martin Principal i Howard Scheuerman Dean Dean Boys Glr s of of ' I Mrs Guttorm V Q-1 I ' k M.
