E. A. Hauenstein Memorial Award Lynn Ault, the winner of last year's E. A. Hauenstein Memorial Award, stood first scho- lastically in his class of one hundred seventy-three seniors. His activities for the year included Student Council, president: Senior A Cappella, president: Cross Country: and Varsity Track. The E. A. Hauenstein Memorial Award is presented each year to the senior boy who has, through his activities at Central, proved himself to be the most worthy of this outstanding honor. The winner of this award is selected on the basis of five qualifications: co-operation, sportsmanship, leadership, scholarship, and honor. The coach of each sport submits to the award committee the name of a boy whom he believes shows the greatest amount of sportsmanship. The committee, after receiving these names and reviewing the other qualifications, summarizes this information and finally se- lects a boy who most nearly meets the exacting standards. Iohn Sugarrnan 'A' i' t Athletic Department While the teams of Central were playing outstanding games, the student body had a tendency to forget those who made possible these contests. They neglected to think of the persons who had trained the teams' members, or of the money that was needed to outfit them. The members of the Athletic Department worked quietly behind the scenes, smoothing out the rough spots to make sure that sports would remain an important extra-curricular feature at Central. Many thanks to them for their excellent co-operation. Bob Moyer ei 21 -

Senior Football Lettermen These eighteen hard-fighting senior lettermen led Central's 1951 football team to one of its most successful seasons in many years. Beginning drills in late summer, the boys practiced every night after school, rain or shine. They spent many weary hours perfecting their blocking, tackling, passing, and run- ning. For many it was their sixth straight year of football at Central. Although every one of these boys will be hard to replace, they have set an example and a goal for all future Central gridders to attain. Tom Garmhausen 4 4 if C Association President - - Carl Aspinall - A the leader Vice-President - - - lerry Hefner - - - a hustler Secretary - - Carolyn Allen ------- minute-minded Treasurer - - Bruce Nanchoff - The king was in his counting house Sergeant-at-arms - - - lack Campbell - - - - - the bouncer Advisor - - - ---- - Mr. Charles A. Rusler Any girl or boy who won a varsity letter in cheerleading, football, basketball, baseball, track, tennis, or golf automatically became a member of the C Association. Because of the high requirements to attain membership, this association could indeed be called an honor club. It required many hours of strenuous practice after school in ad- dition to keen competition in the various athletic groups to earn a varsity letter, which was the sole requirement for membership. The C Association's two big projects for the year were the selling of school supplies in the auditorium box office and their annual spring dinner-dance. Bob Moyer M123-
