Row 3-Kermet Johnson, Paul Thomas, George Stanovich, Dick Hill, Dick Koch, Jim Koch, Jim Ackerman. Reserve Basketball ' HIS season the Reserve basketball team won six games and lost six. The Dragons won their first game of the season by defeating Toledo Wood- ward by the one point margin of 18-17. Central continud to win by subduing the Findlay Trojans 35-22. Defiance defeated Central by the score of 25-20. Then the Dragons went to Fostoria and beat them 23-14. Central won the next game by defeating Dayton Kiser by the narrow score of 26-25. The Red and Green bearers beat their city rivals, Lima South, by the one point lead of 27-26. In their next contest Central was defeated by Van Wert 34-30. The Dragons lost their next out-of--town game to Bowling Green by the score of 25-17. Lima South came back to beat Central 20-16. Central continued their losing streak by bowing to Kenton 3 1-25. Bellefontaine inflicted another defeat on the Dragons by beating them 29-17. In the last game of the season Central defeated Sidney by the narrow score of 19-18. Coach Steward will lose a few of his boys to the varsity but will have most of them back next year. -BILL MYERS Tournament Central showed true championship form when they defeated their first opponent, Upper Sandusky, in the District Tournament at Findlay by the score of thirty-three to twenty-two. In their semi-finals with Findlay, the Lima team had an off night in that they lost twenty-six to twenty-one. Two of the play- ers scored eighteen of the twenty-one points. The defeat of Upper Sandusky saw Cappy Scheuerman coach his one hundred fiftieth win at Central. When Findlay downed them it was Cap's seventy-lifth defeat. -ROBERT BRUNK Hfty-nine

Standing-Warren White, Mr. Hauenstein, Mr. Scheuerman, Richard Monbeck, Fred Hindman, Carroll Lewis, William Cavanaugh, Fred Howard, Robert Brentlinger, Mr. Steward, Mr. Brentlinger, William Furnish. Varsity Basketball I-IE Dragons inaugurated their 1937-1938 basketball season on December the eleventh, at South's gym by playing host to Cridersville. Don David, Carroll Lewis, Warren Widner, and Darrell O'Connell were the veterans from the previous season. Cridersville was downed 33-20. A week later at Toledo, after being ahead at all periods, the Lima team was vanquished by Woodward in the last twenty-five seconds, 21-20. Again on the road the Varsity was defeated by a strong Findlay team, 23-19. On New Year's night the team traveled to Defiance where they were shaded in an overtime, 28-27. In the second game at home, Fostoria stretched the Dragons' losing streak to four straight by subduing them 31-23. The next night at Dayton the Red and Green bearers held Kiser to seventeen points while scoring twenty-six themselves. , The iirst South-Central basketball game of 1938 saw Cappy Scheuer- man's proteges end the three years supremacy held over them by South. South had won the last seven games, but this year the contest ended in a 29-22 win for Central. The next game was with Van Wert, who scored a field goal in the last few seconds of play to win 30-29. On the following night the Dragons entertained Piqua by overcoming them in a close battle, 21-20. At Bowling Green the Lima crew vanquished the home team 28-21. Central's winning streak was extended to three games when they conquered Greenville the next night 25-17. Playing against one of the strongest teams in the state, the Dragons were overwhelmed by Newark 37-19. In the second 1938 South-Central game, Jimmy Dawe sank a foul in the overtime period to win for Central 28-27. -Kenton, the next rival, Went down before a 33-22 defeat. Bellefontaine, the following night, was subdued by a 36-25 score. ln the last regularly scheduled contest of the season the Red and Green crew came from behind to down Sidney 29-27. Next year's team will use the track at the new stadium. The Dragons won one game, lost seven, and placed seventh in the district meet. ln the first meet Central lost to a strong Dayton Roosevelt squad 69-58. Next Bluffton beat the Dragons by the score of 72-60. A powerful Mansfield team subdued the Red and Green bearers by the high score of 109-23. Then the Findlay Trojans marked up another score on their list by defeating Central 88M -43M . ln the only triangular meet of the season the Dragons had as their opponents Sidney and Bellefontaine. Central had Z3 points, Bellefon- taine had 36, and Sidney won the meet by having the highest score, 97. The only meet the Dragons won during the season was the one they wanted most to Win. The Central Dragons beat their city rivals, the South Tigers, by the one-sided score of 98-34. Next a strong Bellefontaine squad defeated Central, 84M -47M. In the last meet of the season a mighty Fremont team beat the Red and Green bearers by the score of 91-41. In the district meet at Toledo, Central placed seventh. The boys Coach Dotson gave letters to were Bill McGee, Bill Cavanaugh, Donald Webb, Charles Bayles, Carl Young, Bob Harrod, Bob Sanders, Eugene Querry, Ray Herold, Jim Dalton, and Charles Counts. -BILL MYERS sixty
