The play revolves around the tower room of an old house situated in the Virginia Mountains overlooking the Potomac River. The house was built before the Civil War days and resembled a castle of the early centuries. During the Civil War, the owner had hidden a bag of gold in the tower room to keep the invading Confederate armies from coniiscating it. When he died, the secret of its hiding place died with him, the only clue being look for the spider. Jack Chalice and his sister Kate inherit this old house. As they investigate the tower room , they find Myra Vernon. Immediately Myra persuades them to help her search for the gold which is hers by inheritance. After a series of strange and weird experiences, they succeed in finding the hidden treasure. Under the line direction of Mrs. Rhonemus, the cast gave a wonderful performance for an attentive audience. -ROSEMARY GISLER ninety-seven

The plot revolves around Buddy Carhart and his two henchmen, Paul and Shrimpie. Together they have launched a magazine, The Harrisville Town Topics , thanks to the generosity of Mr. Garhart, who furnished the hand press. The boys are, naturally, confirmed women haters: that is, until Buddy's older sister Florence is visited for the summer by her school chum, Joan and Joan's younger sister, Lillums. Lillums is a sixteen-year-old siren and quickly severs the ties binding the three boys. Expertly she plays one boy against the other until havoc results. Meantime, Mr. Carhart, a trusted employee of the town's bank, becomes involved in a serious shortage. Buddy takes it upon himself to track down the real culprit, which he finally succeeds in doing after many misadventures. ln the end The Harrisville Town Topics scores a tremendous scoop and the three boys again unite against fickle womanhood. The cast, under the able direction of Miss Stuart, put on a fine perform- ance for a very appreciative audience. -ROSEMARY GISLER ninety-six

Parker on May 27. Sir Peter is a genial old Admiral who extends gracious hospitality to all comers to Pomander Walk. The story is told thus: Five little houses by the waterside Five little gardens, only eight feet wide And here's the river singing to the sea. Here the gazebo stands. What's that? you ask- A kind of summer house arranged to mask Strange goings-on, strange plottings and contrivings, Quarrels, conciliations, wooings, wivings. It is summer, and the month is June When roses bloom, birds are all atune: Morning and midday, sunset and a moon!
