Students Help Others Through United Campaign I am everywhere that men are, God says. I am living flesh, throbbing suffer- ing. I am among men, and they have not recognized me. I am poorly paid, I am unem- ployed, I live in a slum, I am in prison, I am oppressed, I am patronized. I am cold, God says. I am hungry, I am naked. I am imprisoned, laughed at, humi- liated. Quoist Raphael Gonzales strums his guitar as Beth Ross and Janet Ziegler listen attentively. 16 Lillis Cuts Patterns Across the Ice Tony Lemos demonstrates a very popular ice skating position. The Ice Skating Party, sponsored by the Student Council, was enjoyed by Lillis students and teachers. They found that no experience was necessary for a good time. Richard Cecena, Mike Muenks, and Marian Stanley enthu- siastically inspect Richard's skates before joining the fun inside the American Royal. 17 Christmas Season Filled Parents, students, and teachers were entertained by the combined talents of the Lillis band and chorus at the Christmas concert. Sr. Aniceta coordinated a program of music which included several solos and the girls a cappella choir. The French Club celebrates the Epiphany with a party, and the crowning of Muriel Cranon by Nancy Redmond, the lucky winner to find the gift inside the cupcake. 37 Lillisloggers Make A Dream Come True Teamwork, co-operation, and spending extra time at school, was the key to the completion of the Lillislog. After spending a day at the Journalism Workshop in September, Lillisloggers were eager to work. With the help of Editor Beth Ross and Advisor Sister Mary Ruth, deadlines were met, and the book completed. Sister Dolores Hoffmans works closely with students and teachers alike in an effort to intensify communication. Known as a voice over the intercom, a name on a demerit card, or a friend and advisor, Sister relates to everyone. Coach Joe Mintner adds the duty of vice-orin- cipal to his schedule this year. Continuing as football coach, drafting and drivers ed instructor. Coach has little time to call his own. Coach Joe Mintner i Sister Dolores Hoffmans 46 Sister Mary David serves in the capacity of bookkeeper and advisor for both the Pep Club and the new Drill Team. In addition Sister teaches two Math classes. Mr. John Amick counsels Lillis students in face-to-face interviews covering any problem or question from courses and occupations to personal problems with teachers and family. He frequently visits senior homerooms distri- buting important information to college hopefuls. As librarian. Sister Julia is a very helpful friend when research is in order and can be found in the library under Sociology'' as she prepares for her students. Advising Student Council is another duty she performs. Father Francis is a familiar figure to all at Lillis, especially the seniors as he teaches them in his Ethics classes how to live in the way God meant for man. In his capacity as chaplain many students and faculty find it rewarding to talk over problems with Father. Father Francis Broderick Sister Mary David McFarland Mr. John Amick Sister Julia Wilkinson 47 Mr. Richard Service Miss Joann Madden Sister Adella Schieber Sister Carmen Rodriguez Teachers Pose A Challenge For Students To Live Up To Mr. Service pursues his interest in music by helping teach Chorus when not with his Religion students. Miss Mugan, new at Lillis, teaches World Culture, Religion I, English 4, and co-sponsors the Lillistrator. Miss Al-Turch, from Iraq, teaches all girls' Phys Ed. classes, Health, and American History. Sister de Montfort is busy teaching General Science, Physics, Math, and Chemistry. When not teaching she keeps schedules in order and cares for Irish. Miss Madden concentrates all her teaching time on English. Sister Adella teaches Latin and Geometry and advises the Latin Club. Sister Carmen divides her time between Spanish and French and advises both Spanish and French Clubs. Sister Mary Ruth enjoys her Printing, English, and Yearbook students. She also teaches a new class this year, Negro Culture. Inspiring her Arts and Crafts students is Sister Gratia's main concern. Sister Seraphine is back in the Biology Lab with almost all sophomore pupils. She also teaches Religion. Sister Emerich divides her time between Shorthand, Typing, and World Culture. Mrs. Glynn includes both boys and girls in her Cooking classes. She also teaches Clothing. Coach McGuire concentrates on Phys Ed., Psychology, and Health during school time. Sister Aniceta proves to her Chorus and Band students that music is beautiful. Miss Milner readies girls for an office career in Typing I, Shorthand II, and Office Practice. Lillis as Custodian. Lillis Served By Friendly People In her time off from teaching English, Sister Celine advises the Lillistrator staff. Sister Andrea divides her time between American History and World Geography. She also is the National Honor Society advisor. Miss Menser and Sister Genevieve both teach American Problems and World Culture. Sister Mary Maud devotes all her time to Religion and serving as assistant Librarian. Sister Loretta McGuire and Mrs. Briones take time out for coffee, This coffee is mountain grown. Students are taught as Christians how to cope with the world. Ethics tests keep the Seniors occupied, while Juni- ors learn more about social prob- lems.
