By being irreproach- able in all respects, the Lillis lay faculty has al- ways given only the best examples for the students to follow. This year is no exception. Lillis again has a most competent and cap- able lay faculty on the teaching staff. Seated in her office, Miss Dorothy Kennedy lines up assignments for her Social Science and English classes. Mr. Eugene Propp starts home after a long hard day with his fresh- man homeroom and science and math classes. Mrs. Robert Green looks satisfied as she glances over the grades of her freshman and sophomore girls' gym classes. FoievJttu Coach Joseph Mintner, who has been on the Lillis lay faculty longer than any- one else, writes out detention slips for tardy students while Coach Jerry Letourneau sets up a defensive play for his basketball team. Besides coaching the varsity foot- ball team, Coach Mintner teaches drafting, shop, and physical education. Coach Letourneau teaches American History and physical education. 6

To us students, this has been a lifetime, and the Lillis cornerstone with its 1941 inscription may seem part of a distant past. Yet this anniversary bears witness to the successful ( planning directed not only toward the educational needs of students then attending school, but also to the demands of later times. And each student- and then- has found it possible for his life to be enriched through the warm family relationship that has become a Lillis tradition. w Providing an atmosphere of mutual love and respect, this tradition of Chris- tianity in action has helped us to find and build a confidence in a loving God. It is in the U assurance that our world rests securely in His protecting Hands that we find the courage to challenge the future. We, the Fighting Irish ' of 1961, are grateful for the opportunities provided us by our very special instructors to strengthen our faith and in ourselves and in our American way of life, and to develop this abiding trust in God's Providence. As we seniors leave, we know we shall often have occasion to remember Lillis and all that it has come to mean to us. The 1961 Lillislog is our attempt to share some of thes highlights with you. For the staff, this endeavor has been a rich and rewarding ex- perience . U.I ,0 G. A.D. 1.9 41 7
