Having already annexed the football crown, the Fighting Irish continued to dominate the Catholic League sports scene by sweeping through twelve games without a defeat to clinch their third cage title in four years and their seventh In nine years. While enjoying only limited success against interscholastic league competition, the Irish, nevertheless, piled up 21 wins against only 4 setbacks and capped a successful season by placing 8 hoopsters on the loop all-star team. For the sixth consecutive year the golf trophy has found its way to the Lillis trophy case. As in most years rain has washed out the early season dia- mond encounters leaving that sport for the most part in the forecasting stage. However, Coach Glennon, fielding a team al- most entirely composed of experienced ball players, seems to have an excellent chance of repeating the success of '50 and upholding the stellar past record of the Fighting Irish, The loss of star dashman Gil Obregon will hamper the Irish in their effort to repeat as CYC track champions, but still the Lillis cinder team has enough material to pose as a formidable obstacle to any team with hopes of dethroning them. Lillis has won the track title since the league meet was first held in 194-9. 71 0K6k$4 arf te DuUK Hui First Row: Bertram Keys, John Cannon, Tony Burasco, John Metheny, John Salazar, Bill O'Neill Second Row: Morris Ganaden, Ben Singleton, Frank Yurchak, Ronald Skinner, Larry Heinen Third Row: Martin Salazar, Kenneth Peterson, Roger Fister, Robert Brazil, Charles Dorrian, Paul Heider and Coach Thomas Glennon. @Uctex 7Kck '5t First Row: Eddie Fitz Gerald, James Casey, Frank Yurchak, John Cannon, Raymond Reyes, James Stoith.
