The Advisory Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Ed- ucation in matters affecting the school or schools for which it is appointed. The council advises with the superintendent in selection of the school principal, assists principals and teachers in care and use of school proper- ty and acts as liaison between the Board of Education and the lay citizens in reviewing and studying matters relating to the school and the school system. As each day comes to a close and tomorrow seems like the best time to do what you didn’t have time to do today, you can look back to the days Monday thru Friday that you spent listening to the bells ringing, footsteps running down the hall, and teach- ers constantly singing, “Hurry or you'll be late.” On that last day of that twelfth year, a heavy rain of melancholy will appear and synthetic smiles of happiness will be forced on the faces of those scheduled to depart. A new group with new hopes, goals, and aspi- rations is born to go and conquer the world with a loyal banner. The final evaluation of this conquest cannot be measured by yardsticks of knowl- edge, but rather by accomplishments and achievements of the members of this graduating class of 1972. Superintendents The superintendent is the executive officer of the Board of Education, serving as Secretary to the Board. He carries out and supervises the policies established by the Board of Education, recommends candidates for employment, prepares the budget for approval, and directs all expenditures. The assistant superintendent is directly responsible to the su- perintendent and assists in carrying out all duties. The associate superintendent for business is in charge of all fi- nancial and business operations, including transportation and school plants. The assistant superintendent for federal program functions as the liaison between the county and the federal and state pro- grams and as the developer of new programs and operations.
