Lillington, North Carolina FOREWORD To the students, the beginning of a new year atLillington High School means many things To the Seniors--it is almost time to say goodbye-- To the Freshmen--hello--and a state of confusion- -for a short while — To the Sophomores and Juniors it is the beginning of many extra activities and widening of new horizons. We, the Footprint Staff, present to you, the students, the nineteen hundred and sixty-three FOOTPRINTS in the hope that we have here portrayed some of your memories. 3 DEDICATION You ' ll never realize how we ' ll reserve All the kindnesses you have served. Your winning personality and lack of guile Has really made our high school years worth while. Because you ' ve been such a wonderful person We, the staff, find our decision very certain. That since you ' re perfect as far as we can see, We want to dedicate to you, Mrs. Dorothy Hales, Footprints of ' 63. 4 OUR ADMINISTRATION DIRECTS US 6 Mrs. Ruth Awbrey Mrs. Frances Gardner Mr. J. R. Our first step on the ladder began when we were first graders and now we look back on all the wonderful memories of those past years. Graduation means many things to us. Some of us will continue climbing our ladder by seeking an higher ed- ucation, while others of us will face the world eager to find our life work and settle down to a career cut out for us. As we approach this destination of graduation, we find our hearts heavy with the realization that goodbyes will be said and that some of us will never meet again. Since we ' re about to go our separate ways, we want to thank everyone who has made our schooling years so memorable. Without the boost from many of you, our past life would be meaningless. While we ' re in the mood of remembering, we would like to share with you some of our high school memories. Our Freshman year was both an exciting and terrifying year. We had to learn to ac- cept a way of schooling different from any we had previously experienced. Our sponsors who helped encourage us when our spirits were low were Mrs. Evelyn Johnson, Mr. John Blackmon, and M. Thomas Lee„ Although we were considered green Freshmen, we still managed to pull through our first year of high school. Our second year, our Sophomore year, was a continuation of our first year. We were still considered lower classmen, but we did manage to get ten members of our class into the Beta Club. Our sponsors that year were Miss Carole Jackson, Miss Belle Hockaday, and Mrs. Frances Walker. We all were stimulated by the thrill of playing sports and be- longing to various organizations. We felt we were participating in school activities more and doing our part in helping our school function more successfully. The Junior year was really an exciting year for all of us. We elected our mascots, Marsha Sercy and Jeffrey McDonald. Our class flower, the magnolia, our class colors, blue and white, and our class motto, Toda y we follow, tomorrow we lead were chosen. We presented our class play entitled THE WHOLE TRUTH and carried out the Junior- Senior with the theme, PARIS IN THE SPRINGTIME . Although we worked hard that year, it was most successful and memorable because of the help rendered by Miss Belle Hockaday and Mrs. Frances Walker, our sponsors. This year has been a happy year. A closeness that has never before been encounter- ed has confronted us. We received our classrings at the beginning of school and many of us walked around proudly for the first week or two showing them to everyone. We ordered our invitations and had to face reality that the time for us to part was near. The other preparations that had to be made in order to graduate were hard work, but we don ' t regret a moment we ' ve spent working as a group for L. H. S. Our sponsors, Miss Belle Hockaday and Mr. Thomas Lee, have certainly been wonderful and understanding our last year. After relating these wonderful memories to you, we leave and thank you all for being so wonderful during our years at L. H. S. You may rest assured as we walk out the door for the last time as part of Lillington High School, our hearts will be filled with much ap- preciation and love. 24 CLASS OFFICERS Joe Horton, Vice-President George Womble, President Sandra Oannady, Treasurer, Judy Denton, Secretary 25 Diane Margaret Adams William Roy Adcock Johnny Hector Actkins Hilda Mae Bain Nancy Ruth Bell Robert Earl Bell Horace Hunter Bethune, Donald Wayne Brock Billy Ray Brown Anne Celeste Byrd David Howell Byrd Jr. JUNIORS JUNIORS Gayle Louise Byrd Jasper Wilton Byrd, Jr. Nicky Charles Byrd Sue Frances Byrd Sandra Kay Cannady Ruby Mae Clack Shirley Clack Jerry Ray Cooke Martha Ann Crowther Phyllis Jane Davis Alex Devon Dawson Ronnie Lee Dennis Norman King Denny Judy Catherine Denton Brenda Gael Dickens Felton Everett Hedy Donnette Gates William Edward Gregory Carline Hampy Larry Heath Nancy Jane Holder Joseph Lane Harton JUNIORS Charles Marc Hubbard Larry Richard Johnson Stephen Devane Johnson Judy Patricia Jones Linda Mae Knight Peggy Estelle Lanier Dennis Ray Lee Joy Jackie Leonard Larry Lee Matthews Duane Nelson McDonald Anne Marie McLamb Peggy Sue McNeill Anne Elizabeth Meeks Ronnie Taylor Mills Brenda Foy Milton Frances Renn O ' Quinn Cecil J.
