HISTORY L1ves of great men all remlnd us We can make our lxves subhme And departmg leave behmd us Footprmts on the sands of tune Four years ago approxxmately Bfty of us 1n our caravan landed on what seemed to be dry desert sands That seemmgly unconquerable desert was a four year youmey through slxteen unxts of requlred work among them such obstacles as geometry French and Engl1sh The ultl mate goal was the oasls graduatxon As we traveled we left behmd us footprmts marks that showed others what we had accomphshed rn our joumey Durlng our freshman year our way on these sands led 1nto three dlrectlons down to Mr Blackmon for Agrxculture up to Mrs Walker for Enghsh and Algebra and out to Mrss Enzor for Home Economlcs All of the Efty ln our Class worked very hard under the leadershlp of these three teachers and at the end of the year realized we had lmprmted our first set of foot punts rn the sands of tune Our second year of footprmts were lmprlnted on the Sophomore Lands and found us all together under the leadership of Mlss Cathryn Creasman We were exceedmgly proud to see members of our class obtaln pos1t1ons on the L1ll1ngton1an Staff Footprmts Staff the basketball baseball and football teams and become members of the Beta Club 1'h1s year Mlldred Clay ton representing our room won the popularlty contest at the Halloween Carmval At last we had reached the Iunlor Lands wrth a smaller number only th1rty three but wlth plamer footprmts Agam we were under the leadershlp of Miss Creasman We elected our class officers as follows Presldent Leo MacDonald V1ce Presldent Mxldred Clayton Treas urer Dorothy Anne Matthews and Secretary lean Blalock Thls year proved to be an excltmg one We gave our play 'There Goes The Brlde sold cards and magazlnes to ralse money for the banquet and gave the Senlors a beautlful banquet at the Communlty Center based on the theme Moonllght Bay We part1c1pated 1n Commencement and furmshed the marshals They were Jean Blalock Chlef Sara Hatley Marlanne MUfChlSOD Leo Kelly and Leo McDonald We were very proud of Dons Browns belng voted the outstandlng basketball player 1n the tourna ment The class of 1953 finally reached the Senxor Lands and opportunltv to leave clear and well defined footprints behmd us Hardly had the year begun when we started maklng plans for graduatlon We were agam under the leadershlp of Mlss Creasman The class made the followmg selectlons colors red and whxte motto A Llttle Farther Every Day And The Goal Is Won flower the red rose One of our students wrote our class song to the tune of Star dust Our Senlor class OEICCFS are Presldent Leo McDonald V1ce President jean Blalock Secretary Dorothy Anne Matthews Treasurer Dons Hester Thxs year Bonny Ballard repre sentmg our room won the popularlty contest at the Halloween Camlval Although we hate to say goodbye to our classmates teachers, and school we are proud to say we have achieved our goal Surely as we look back over our footprmts growlng dlmmer on the sands we reallze the glory we have achieved Durmg all four years of our hlgh school education we have been gulded and helped by won derful leaders We the Semor Class of 1953 wlsh to express our appreclatlon to all who have helped us achleve our goal n . . 7 7 7 I 0 3, 7 , , .
