These days we speak casu- allx' of inanx' fantastic things. like YVould I fit into a nose cone, how hig will a vitamin pill containing a Banana Split he. and what would happen to Ligonier High if 'iKatie werent there to keep it ticking? but ni Mrs. Leslie, the school nurse. is a graduate of St. Nlargarets Memorial Hospital in Pitts- burgh. She has taken additional training in spe- cial nursing courses at Seton Hill College. Mrs. Leslie has a hig joh tending to all the needs and requirements of the students of the entire Lig- onier Valley School System. In addition to the daily routine, she assists the school doctor and dentist in their annual physical and dental ex- aminations. Nurse Leslie has proved a great friend ot the teachers too. always ready with an aspirin or hisodal to fight a headache or nervous stomach resulting from combat fatigue. Ibn' E Q ' ll Mrs. Grace A. Nlonticue and Nlrs. liuth Tosh are the two capahle and etiicient secre- taries we see around the oftice. Blrs. Nlonticue drives from Stahlstown each day' in her 'ilittle car. while Mrs. Tosh lives within easx' walking distance of the school. Both are kept very busy with the inanv and varied tasks around a school otlice hut are always willing to give a helping hand to a mixed-up student or a tired teacher. XV- understand Nlrs. Nlonticuc is quite a had- niinton player, while Nlrs. Tosh enjoys boating and water skiing. Thanks to hoth of you: your help is appreciated!

.. .., Mr. john E. Beck, our Senior High School principal, is a friendly advisor to all. Never is he too busy to listen to our problems and guide us in making important decisions, although every day brings many administrative duties which re- quire much time. Nobody Worked more untir- ingly than he to have the new Field House at the football field ready for the Bi-centennial game. By doing wood work in his shop at home or in boating on Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, he likes to forget about problems. Mr. Albert XV. Peters, the capable principal of our lunior High School. received his Master of Education degree at the University of Pitts- burgh and is now working on his doctorate. He is a life member of the National Education As- sociation and takes an active part in all organi- zations connected with the teaching profession. Although very busy with his many duties and responsibilities, he alwavs has time to be inter- ested in the problems of the individual student or teacher. Nlr. Peters, philosophv of doing each task well has made him a good administrator. and we wish him success in the future. 5 Lam, Mr. Earl K. Burkholder. our Elementary Supervisor. received his B.S. degree from Cali- fornia State Teachers College. Before becoming a member of our staff, he was a classroom teacher for ten years in the Fayette County Schools. Today he is kept busv making his tour of duties between the Hill, the Borough Ele- mentary, and the New School in Cook Town- ship. Sir. Burkholder takes an active part in both educational and civic organizations and whenever possible takes time to relax through his favorite sports-hunting. fishing, and travel- ing. 9

fe Y' Bliss Virginia H. Nealon spends XVednes- day and Friday mornings conducting speech improvement classes in our schools. Doing her work through the County Ullice at Greensburg, she helps approximately two hundred fifty chil- dren in grades one through twelve in Ligonier and Unity Township schools. She also works with pupils from the Crippled Childrenis Home in Greensburg. This program of speech therapy conducted in our schools has been a great help to many children. Since her graduation from the University of Pittsburgh. Xliss Nealon has taught for two years. ln her spare time she enjoys sports and good literature. Umm The tall, athletic looking gentleman we see in the otlice is none other than Nlr. Nlilroy Carnahan, the junior High Truant Officer. school supplies distributor, substitute teacher. and keeper of attendance records. In addition to his school duties Nlr. Carnahan enjoys all sports, particularly basketball, and seryes as business manager for both the Senior High and .lunior High athletic program. He drives a M580 Buick and readily adinits that many of the miles registered on it result from investigating ab- senteesf' Nlr. Carnahan is well liked by every- one, and we hope he stays around for a long time to come. . KD Blr. Richard Nlellott, Ligonier High Schools new Guidance Counselor. is a graduate of ln- diana State Teachers College and is now doing post-graduate work at the U. of Pgh. He is very proud of his new office in the upper hall where students may find information on all the colleges and universities in the country. Blr. Xlellott especially enjoys basketball and base- ball. He is always ready to advise students in personal problems, choosing vocations. and gaining scholarships and entrance to college.
