.E JUY HEI G UPPEHCLASSME OFFICERS President . Nick Malkoch Vice President , Louis Bearer Treasurer .. Louise Hantz Secretary . . Bill Cochrane School Days! School Daysv, these oft- spoken words described our thoughts at the end of summer vacation. Everyone put on his best Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothesv, for our first day as upperclassmen was to be a memorable occa- sion. Not many weeks had passed until all the family began to participate in school activities. Nearly half of the football squad was com- prised of juniors, and our athletic skill was well represented in basketball. Early in September, Brother Malkoch, who is, by the way, vice president of the Student Council, was again elected President of our fam- ily. He with the other officers planned a Weiner roast to be held at Adams Falls where every one had a grand time and discovered our new coach, Mr. Testa, was a jolly, good fellow. More good times were to follow. Came November 3 and Sadie Hawkins visited L. H. S. bringing all the Clems', and Clementines . Luckily, she caught nobody, so Marryin, Sam had no chalice to execute his authority. Later on we held a Valentine Dance where Bob Wol- ford and Louise Hantz were chosen King and Queen of Hearts. Even though we number only 85, our little familyi' is one of the best to attend L. H. S. We have been glad to welcome this year two new active class members: Bill Bradley, a city slickern from Braddock, and Jim Hartzell from Langley High. Both have made good in the Louie'i, Nick, Bill, and Louise discover the names of many L.H.S. Alumni on the Bethlen Home Honor Roll Band, while Bill made the Basketball Iayvees and Iim the football squad. There have been many outstanding students in our family. In the field of math and science we point with pride to Bob McKelvey. For class arguments we always depended on Carolyn Seaholm and Harry Wilt. In English class Louiev Bearer entertained us with amusing themes especially about his ill-fated car and Bob Dutcher with his personality plus oral re- ports. At least we have attempted to acquire information that will prove valuable during our senior year. Never have we forgotten our part in the War effort. Every Thursday we brought our dimes or quarters to invest in Uncle Sam's Treasury. Our three cabins have tried to keep our Defense Stamp percentages above 90? all year. It meant going without that coke or sundae but we didnit mind. A small overiiow from our group is already in the Armed Services. Besides we realize there will be more before many moons have passed. After a junior Class Play and a junior- Senior Prom, it wasn't long until all the Clems and Clementines', could discard their shoes and stuffed shirts and live again the life of Riley . Once more we would be free until fall, when once again and for the last year, we would enter the little old school housev in the mountains. Mountaineer - 21
