Lu? gi at -in N rl M E fe QQ Qt! lar S245 S., CE Er 1 ,8 Q3 W 5 -r-DS' JS A' ' ' ' ' Q ' ' ' 'L-,- N ywzxu EBRQ3 -H 56511 X ' I VDQJ1' 'R A s ya srovsozec, b, me e 1' r 111 ar 28 'ya ISE ISL H Braun SENIOR ACTIVITIES The Hebron High School senior class started off the business of their last year with election of class officers as follows Homer Poorman president, Jack Stiff vice president Joan Kis sick secretary,and Patty Clark treasurer 'Don t Try Dying But Die Trying was chosen as our class motto and the Sunburst became the favorite flower selected gold and white as the class colors and decided to wear white gowns for all commencement activities P038 Next in events mixing busi ness and pleasure was the day we went to have Senior pictures taken at Montrose's Studio After lunch we spent time visit ing the State House and the Ohio State Penitentiary The senior class play and the tractlons of the spring The class is looking forward to graduation day and the trip to Washington in June HOMECOMING Miss Patty Clark reigned over the Hebron Granville football game as Homecoming Queen Joan Kissick and Virginia Byrd sen iors Joan Porter junior an Mary Poorman Sophomore were her attendants The Queen and her court were escorted through Hebron and on to the field just before the kickoff At the half Patty was crowned by the foot ball captain Walter Pillows JUNIOR PLAY A three act comedy, 'Hooray For Youth' was presented by the Junior Class on December 3 The play was a success HEBRON STUDENT COUNCIL The local student council was reorganized this year The president Elmer Martin, is also senior member of Licking Student Council HONOR SOCIETY The Licking Honor Society met at Hebron March 15 to initiate new members into the society The senior initiates from Hebron are Sherman Clay Joanne Chesser,and Lois McElroy Jean Reed Evelyn Ours and James Eisenlohr are the new junior members SPORTS Our football season got off to a bad start losing the first game to Centerburg We were vie torious at three games but lost the other seven Our basketball season proved to be much better by winning ten and losing five of our county games For the first tournament game we drew Johnstown and defeated them by a score of 41 34 In the next game played with Alexandria we were defeated by one point Two of our boys, Robert Flagg second football team this year Joanne Porter, Clara Rayburn Patricia Stickley Lois McElroy and Marian Fitch, varsity cheer leaders helped cheer our boys to victory this year Our reserve cheerleaders this year are Donna Clark, Norma Jean Clay Mary Poorman Mardell Karst and Nancy Keifer MUSIC Music has been very prominent this year with the choir chorus glee clubs and the other various organizations singing at school and community activities The culminating music event of April 9 featured a band con cert at Hebron LICKINGANA Hebron is very proud to be the editor of the 'Llckingana' this year and to have for its editor in chief, Joan Kissick The art editor, John Bounds is also from Hebron The faculty advisor this year is Mrs Harold Newkirk, who is our commercial teacher This page sponsored by Red k White Market Buckeye Lake, Ohio ,V 7 Q V: I s , : - . , 9 . , , ' ' . '-1:9-'Q K FE nf -'vm 5 6 , k f 4 .. .. i' X wot' f ral,L, !v-1 '52 'Y ' A, k 5 K 2 C L A A G -. - STPTIOY KF: -------- FLA'H Ve are happy to summarize for you the High Light of Klrk High during it years 1047-8 FL SH' When ae tember came P put away all our summer fun and picked up our school books to start another year of study and excitement at Kirk High The first thing on our list of exciting events was a new superint endent Ne later found that his name was .r cott FLASH Our Football season was not much of a success this year Ne had a lot of new boys who were mostly fresh man and sophomores who had n t had he experience needed to see us through Better luck next year boys LASH Our Homecoming Queen Imogene Stewart and her event of our Homecoming activities Our Captain, Marvin william and the boys did their best to win, but we were defeated at the hands of Summit FLASH' The Carnival in October, sponsered by the P T A was also a success Our Queen, Imogene Stewart and her attendants were among the High Lights f very entertaining evening FLASH In November we all felt honored to be the school selected to act as host to The High School members f the county by having the Annual Fall dance, sponsored by the Licking County Student Council FLASH' rs Hutchins, our music teacher with the support of the grade teachers and students presented a novel Xmas program for our parents FLASH O Fecember 2 stuffed our books desk and left Kirk High for a long waited two week Xmas vacation Mo t of everyones time was spent ice-skating and sled-riding in our FLASH' The Home Economics girls have been studing and trying all year to find someone who will eat their cooking Watch our boys They are out to get you FLASH' Our School was well represented at the Marine Band concert in Columbus held at Nemorial Hall was a fine performance FLASH Among our surprises, was the electric score board pre sented to the school by the Parents and Teachers Club It is a fine score board and everyone has promised t Thanks again FLASH' Quite a large amount of hidden talent was uncovered when the Juniors presented their play nAct Your Age It was a hit with everyone The Seniors presented their play in April They weren t out done by the Juniors Thanks again directors FLASH' The time came for everv one to drag out their glad rags for that gala event , the Junior and Senior Banquet Teachers, quests, and students all had a hilar lous time The Juniors d things up right when they them Something t remember Seniors FLASH' The calender turning to lay found the Seniors turn 1ng ln their books puttlng behind them school actlvi ties, closing another chap ter in their lives To the Seniors, Good Luck and the best of everything to you v ln S I Q ' I n S 4, we Lx S , . Our band marches and toot of a whistle H The band mother's club is working hard to buy uniforms for the group would like to thank them for taking so muon interest 'USIC CONCERT Mrs UcLeish also led us in the first music concert that has been put on at Hanover-Toboso. Our fall concert was November 19 It was so successful with a filled auditorium that the spring concert had to be given two nivhts These concerts have proved a successful experiment VISIT TO W C L T At Christmas time our mixed chorus was invited by the Newark Radio Station, N,C L to come to their station and make recordings of Christmas Carols We sang several popular Christmas songs too. These were played on Christmas Eve. COUNTY CHORUS The students sent to County Chorus were Mary Jane Barrick, Joann Fairall, Virginia Handley, Peggy Osborn, Mary Jane Denman, Paul Crawmer, Jim Lake, Walter VanOstran, and Johnny Sidle. REPRESENTATIVES FROM H.T. The members that Hanover- Toboso sent to the Honor Society were Ruth Mary Varner, Mary Jane Denman, Twila Lothes, Marilyn Acord, Mary Jane Barrick and Gwendolyn Rector the student council our school 1 represented by Joan Henderson and Jayne Hand. ' YI A A j . . had 'ck S ' This is Station SHS bringing you news and notes on Sumnit High activities The one new faculty member is hrs Gladys Meredith, Home Economics instructor Tne County Student Council members th1s year were Jane Frame and Ralph Hoffman Honor Society members include Mamie Lou Starr, Lois Bruner, Bob Staley, Patty Parr, and Leo Howell Our football team came to the top in UB county 6 man league this fall, stopped only by Alex andria Two of the players, Bob Staley and Don Joseph,were placed on the All County team Blden Stires was put on Us second team To climax the football sea son,we elected a Homecoming eueen and Court to reivn at the final home game Faith Dentner, Senior, was the Queen In her court were Sophomore, and Rosalie Randall, Freshman The basketball team was not so fortunate the football squad, our seasc1's record show ing a standing of 8 games won and 7 lost Homer downed Summit in the Tournament on February 19 by a score of 42 to 29 At the be ginning of the court seasor our boys ordered complete new uni forms, maroon and gold We all feel that they acquited themselves very nobly and hope they will do better next year Summit's cheerleaders this year were Varsty Velisse Kuehner, Mary Jane Roby, and Wilma Jeane Randall, and Reserve Rosalie Randall and Roberta Monaghan During the 1946 47 school year our Board of Education pur chased three new musical lnstru ments for the school French horn, baritone, and tuba At the end of that school year, interested persons organized a Band Boosters Association , organizatlon which is very active and has assumed responsibilty for raising funds to buy uniforms for the band Tnis school year, the band marched and played for several home basketball games and many other activities.
