I!LHlI0lMlllEKQlMlllNIQ Q74 The festivities all began a week and a half before the actual ame, when the top 15 senior girls were chosen to be eligible for Homecoming Queen and court. They were: jennifer Brown, Sue Busby, Liz DeBruler, Dara Dejanovich, Cynthia Fasnacht, Vicki Ferenczy, Ca le Fisher, janet Hubbard, Tina Kim fer, Karen Luce, Laurie Nylander, Debbie Postal, Tammy Rlofgers, jody Sonneman, Laurie Tischendo , and Rita Whitman. On Frida , October 4th, an all school pep assembfy was held. At this assembly, the students leamed of the Wayne Whitmore 'Smoke-Em' Awardv to be given each year to the winner of the Var- sity game between Lake Forest and Lib- ertyville, in memory of Wayne Whit- more, who coached at both schools. Mr. johnson gave his annual Victory cheer, and then the senior girls held a beauty pageant in which seven teachers were fi- na ists: Coaches Billberg, Christensen, Dortch, Emanuelson, jennrich, Sanders, and Somers. judging included an Eve- ning Gown competition, in which the coaches were draped in colored sheets. Coach Emanuelson was declared the winner. It then came time to crown the Home- coming Queen. jeff Ruzich crowned a very suigprised Laurie Nylander, who was attende by jennifer Brown, janet Hub- bard, Karen Luce, and Laurie Tischen- dorf. Friday night, students decorated the school by festooning it with toilet paper. Homecoming day began with a parade down Milwaukee Ave. The senior float captured first place in its resplective division, as did German Club and Butterfield School. The LHS Marching Band was in the parade, in addition to t eir regular half-time show, which featured the works of Stevie Wonder. Pep Club contrib- uted to the fun by lsfponsoring a balloon kick-off, sending off balloons with ostcards on them. Unfortunately, the Varsity football team's pe ormance didn't match the festive mood of the day. Tlfey fell to Lake Forest, 21-12. However, the Sophomore A's and Freshman B's won, with scores of 20-O and 12-O. That night, the dance was held in the cafeteria, with gingham table cloths and helium-filled balloons carrying out the theme of 'Saturday Eveningn in the Parkn. As for the helium kick-off alloons, postcards were received from many different places. Sharon Mikich's balloon trav- eled the farthest, all the way to New York!
