SEPTEMBER 7. We've all been kept pretty busy chasing between buildings, and to add to the confusion, we can't tell the Frosh from the Seniors. They both get lost so easily. 13. The Brainerd Building seems to have been in- vaded by little people. No, they aren't Martians, just the first day of Nursery School. QWe're letting them use some of our rooms.j 15. Who are the Grende1s the Senior girls keep talking about? See Mr. Tipler-Chief Grendel. 16. Such pep! What cheering! We go to our first pep meeting. 17. Nobody is here today, not even the teachers. Oh, there's a teachers' meeting in Evanston! 18. Palatine comes to see us, but we don't think they are very good guests because they beat us 25-6. 22. Who are all those little girls walking around wearing baby bonnets? Are their heads cold? just Big and Little Sister Day for G.A.A. 25. We play Barrington today but just don't quite make it. They beat us 17-15. 30. The last day of September. Can you believe it, we've had school for seventeen whole days! It seems like a year! OCTOBER 1. What a way to start a month!! We beat McHenry by a touchdown in the first few minutes of play. Score 6-0. 4. Wow! Look at those uniforms. The band shows off for the first time in their new outfits. 11. We vote for the top fifteen candidates for home- coming queen in lunch hour today. 13. We vote for the fifteen for homecoming queen. Wait!! Somehow that sounds familiar. Oh, now we understand. They left somebody's name off, and we have to vote over. We sure hope they're not going to make a habit of this. 14. They are!! Again it's the case of the forgotten name, and again we vote. 16. We play Warren and beat them on their home- coming. Nice, huh? 18. The final vote for queen. 19. Doctor William Clyde tells us to discover and use our ability. 22. This year we broke the snake dance tradition and have decided to have an evening pep rally. The Senior girls really look lovely as they do a parody on Paul Revere's ride. It's good to see all the alums back for homecoming. In between each act, one member of the court is announced. At the very last when the suspense is high, Barb Nickoley is an- nounced as queen. Members of her court are Barb Cazel, Joyce Hill, Lola Lange, and Alice Rouse. Aft- er a bonfire we all go to a free show given by the Liberty theatre. 23. Homecoming. The event waited for all year! Everyone is busily working on floats. Then the pa- rade and most important the game. We beat Wood- stock but good! In the evening the dance. 24. Everybody relaxes and tries to figure out what they are going to do with all the napkins they have stuffed in chicken wire. 25. We're all shocked back into reality as grades come out for the first time, and we try to invent reasons not to go home. 29. Zion beats us and captures first place, but the only reason they can do it is because we're practically frozen as the thermometer dips near freezing.
