1942 Foreword Comparison of the school of 1917 and the school of 1942 plainly shows the growth and improvement of Libertyville Township High School. This year out of the 515 students, 110 are seniors. This is the largest graduating class in the history of our school. The twentyftwo teachers are directly responsible for the high scholastic standing of the school and students. Another group which is also responsible, although in a different manner, is the Board of Education. Football has assumed major importance among the athletic events of our school. Each fall there are from seventyffive to ninety boys who turn out for either the Varsity, the Lightweights or the FreshmanfSophomore teams. Although our football teams this year were not very successful in conference competition, our basketball teams more than made up for this. The Varsity did very well and finished the season in second place. The Lightweights proved to be even more successful by becoming conference champions. Fifty to seventy boys turn out for spring training in track. The girls also have their fling at sports with archery, badminton, volleyball, tumbling, and bowling. Une of the most outstanding organizations at Libertyville Township High School is the music department. The band, choir, and orchestra appear at public concerts and also at many school functions. Another group of importance is the Drops of Ink. Then, too, we have the Dramatics Clubs which present a play every year. There are many other organizations all of which combine to make up the social life of our high school. The social committee, which indirectly sponsors all the dances, is a mild form of student government. During the school year there are many assembly programs including two student assemblies. The afternoon and evening dances are open to all students of Libertyville Township High School while the Prom is for the juniors and seniors only. In conclusion, may we say that in these twentyffive years Libertyville Township High School has progressed-not only in scholastic standards but in all forms of student activity. NAUTILUS
