W' . . . +4 x , - .... . . .. .. ...1-2 ' . .... .. 3 . ..... . . ...a-4 . .. . .. ....a.4 I Q AA I Class Poem Graduatron rs the time We ve worked and warted for But as the trme draws near We fear what the future holds rn store We ve spent our days rn many ways We ve nuxed our work wrth laugh and fun For a lrfe whrch has just begun But now the trme lS really here To say goodby to you We dread to leave L H S so dear But we 11 meet a lrfe that s new By Joyce Rusk Class Molto Able Ar1dW1111ng Class Flower Amerrcan Beauty Rose Class Colors Blue And Whrte 18 We've laid our plans for future days, Prophecy Whrle sitttng at my desk xn the Brown and Doyle s Insurance Co tn Denver Colorado the president called me rnto hrs offrce He told me that he wanted me to go to Iowa and get some information on an rnsurance agent He satd that I could take my t me and vacatron as I went as long as I was back in a month After buyrng a train trcket I hurried home to pack my thrngs I left early the next day The tra1n stopped rn Omaha and I was Informed that rt would not leave for two hours I decrded to look around a bxt Walking only a half a b ock I saw a huge burldrng Wonderlng wat rt was I looked for the name At the very IOP I saw a srg MISS RUSK S MODELING SCHOOL The name sounded famrlrar and I went rn just to make sure The frrst thrng I saw was a young woman runnrng here and there grvtng orders I chased her around and frnally cornered her I stopped her sayrng Aren t you Joyce Rusk from Lrbertyvillep She knew me and laughed She sard she would be through rn a mtnute and we would have a cup of coffee together We talked over good trmes and she walked me back to the statron I waved good by and boarded the tra1n There was one seat left I sat down not notrcrng the one next to me Shortly someone nudged me I looked around and there srttrng by me was Sue Dougherty an old schoolmate She told me she had jorned the WAVES and was home for a ten day leave We talked the rest of the way to Iowa She told m about some of my other classmates Leavrng the statron I got a cab and went to the Hotel Bodvllle At the hotel desk I rang the bell and warted lrang rt agaxn After about a ten mrnute wart here came the desk clerk After a second glance I knew rt was Kenneth Davrs an old schoolmate He recognrzed me d I got a cut rat We talked a few mrnutes and then I went up to rest I left early the next mornlng for Lrbertyvrlle my home town but sttll wearrng hlgh heels and keeplng an rron hand over the krds She was glad to see me and remrnded me of some of the trrcks I used to pull at school I went wanderrng around the schoolhouse lookrng in, every room Upon entertng the lunchroom I saw they were hav1ng a nurses course The teacher was Dorrs Hupp She was now a regrstered nurse and had been teachrng for sev eral years She told me they were takrng school prctures today We went to the Gym together to watch She hadn t told me that Irm Pearson was a photo grapher and was down there But I knew the mtnute I saw him trckltng the lrttle krds under the chrn to make them laugh that rt was Irm He was drrvrng a Cadrllac and owned one of Iowa s nrcest plcture studios I left the school to look over the town It was just about the same wxth the exceptron of a brg whrte house Just outsrde of town The mailbox read Mr Allrson Thxs was my cousrn w om I hadn t seen for years I drove in and honked the horn I was greeted by three cute lrttle blonde hatred girls and a o that looked just lrke Larry stayed for drnner and had a long talk I a been tnformed that Rector and S on had developed a brg seed farm north of town rove out that way saw 1 a house W1 the lane e u o ca thought busrness must be good I parked my car and walked to the offrce There sat Ivan wrth hrs feet on the desk and readxng a magazrne His dad was hard at work wrrh the customers They hadn t forgotten me and were as frrendly as always I left for Farrfield to return the car and tend to busrness My agent was an old school frrend Drck Ienkrns Hrs stock car record was frne and we were the only Insurance company who would take htm He told me Mrs Daggett had moved to Florxda I dropped her a card and left for home havrng had a wonderful vacatron 19 1 . K ' ll ll gl A 2 1 I 'ff - 4 ' ' .J J 1 S Bobby Fhxlhps Patty Hlssem fwfrmg Darrell Smutz Prlmary 'LB' Lmda Lxnda Ronme Eklund Sm1th McC1eary I-qi Raymond Walter Iustxne Cooksey Mlller Znler Danny Rlckxe Phxhp Rector Vaught Denny 32 I 4 6 7 Y yif I 1 - J DBI. 1 g-'i Ayj' ' ' , - Q, QA .M V E if 1 .E 'h.,, I 'ga-.Uri f tiff 1 A n n,,n f 1 C , 1 . 4 ,zv ,T 5: c A K v . ii i Q. , Class ACIIVIIIBS Primary gl First Grade School began September 1 with an enrollment twenty five There were fourteen beginners and eleven in the flrst grade During National Education Week we felt very proud because we had so many mothers grandmothers and even one grandfather visiting our room Each month we decorated our room appropriately We especially liked our room at Christmas The one big event of December was the Christmas party at Stephen Small s home After Christmas we began working on the grade operetta Daniel Boone Killed A Bear T ts was work but lots of fun The last day of school everyone a part in the prog am for Grade N1 2nd 3 d 8s 4th Grades School began September first with an enrollment of 25 In November we were sorry to lose Teddy I-licks who moved to Fairfield In December we were glad to welcome james Cady who moved here from Charlton and will be in the third grade We were glad t get a new bulletin board in the back of the room and we now have room to display more of our work We have a play T V set in our room which we enjoy very much We ha showing the Christmas Story We will soon begin practice on our Operetta Daniel Boone Shot A Bear, which will be held in the spring ln October we had a Halloween party We were sorry that Charlotte Rusk could not be with us this year 5th cgi, 6th Grades School opened with 18 pupils enrolled in grades 5 and 6 at Libertyville School They were divided by 4 pupils in the fifth grade and 14 in the sixth grade On Halloween Day we had our first party We played games out of doors and had candy apples for refreshment We invited our mothers to our Thanksgiving Program on November 24 Each child had a part n the program and servtng refreshments School was then dis missed for Thanksgiving vacation The gift exchange was held on December 19 this we all enjoyed very much before going home to our week s vacation Our first semester ended in January Next came our operetta in March It was titled Daniel Boone Kllled A Bear We enjoyed practicing for it and the final night of presenting ll In closing a successful school year we wish to thank our superintendent school board and parents for their co operation in every way 33 l I .I ' ' : , ' of ' . h' . had ' I 'ght. .
