The Flames had a 5-3 record on the home court. Under the leadership of first year coach Skeeter Swift, the LBC Basketball Team tackled a tough schedule of only eight home games. One of the outstanding players on the team was Mark Chafin who broke all LBC records. Mark was selected to the first team of the NCCAA Division l. In the Appalachian Conference, the team finished sixth with a 4-5 record. As a team their 60.2 average led the conference in rebounding and a percentage of 3976 placed them second in field goal shooting. Helen and Reggie Gomes were named to the Appalachian All-Conference team. Impressive wins included vic- tories over Lynchburg College, Roanoke College, and Emory 81 Henry.
