BQSKETBQLL The Liberty High Basketball Team of 1945-46 had only a mediocre season winning five games and losing ten. If the total points for both opponents and Liberty were taken into consideration, the Lions fared fairly well, they scored 450 points while their opponents scored 445, indicating they lost most of their games by close scores. Duo to graduation the team will lose the services of Hugh Sheline, Jack Warner, Tom Thompson, and Ron Snow. The outlook for next year's team is e good one. -Several of the boys saw action on the varsity. They are: Bob Thomp- son, Marlonn Smith, Ray Hentges, Bob Burdock, D. L. Whitacre, Dick Adler and Carol Barker. With these boys a very strong team can be made. In the county tournament Liberty drew a bye to play the winner of Olneysweston. Olney was victorious over Weston. Then, Olney beat Liberty by a score of 28-21. Olney went on to win the county championship by defeating Cygnet in the finals 26-22. Prospects are seen of a fine and sportsworthy team next season. The reserve team should be bolstered considerably by the advancement of the fine Jr. High Team into High School.
