In many games they were out sized but hussle and team play won the ball games for them. Liberty Junior High finished its basketball season with a 14-5 record. I-I - if Liberty Jr. High Eighth Grade Basketball team had an outstanding season, winning fourteen games and losing only two. The team was led by George King, Robbie Derricott, Wayne White, Roland James and Dale Waller. They received help from Floyd Dabney, David Smith, Jeff Nucklos, Ronald Curtis, Herbert Epps, Steve Wright, Waverly Jackson, Darrell Thompson, and Daniel Chandler coming off the bench. Women The Liberty Junior High School girl's basketball team finished in first place this season. The Eagles completed their season with a 14-1 record and have compiled a 37-5 record for the past three seasons. At Christmas, the organization sponsored several activities, among them the Christmas dance, An Old Fashioned White Christmas with music by Bijon. Canned goods for the Hanover Christmas Mother were collected in homerooms the week before the holidays. Joining again with the Beta Club, the SCA spent the first night of the Christmas Holidays caroling in Ashland. After exams, in January, ninth grade superlatives were elected. A Student Govemment Day and A Fifties Days were repeated after their success last year, in early March. To close out the year the SCA sponsored the Spring Dance in April. The Elbow Club was produced for the PTA meeting in February. This was about a group of students that worked over all the creeps in the school by pushing them down stairs using only their elbows. We plan to do one more play to be done during an activity period in April.
