It hardly seems like only four years have gone by since the Class of '78 started high school but it has. Now a look at what they have done in those 4 years. With first year officers Tony Olan, president: Mike Gon- zales, vice-presidentg Christine Bacchini, treasurer and Stan Nunn, secretary, the class got its first taste of Homecoming Spirit and competition and also built their first float. Entitled Grind the Trojans the float was disqualified when it fell apart just as it passed in front of the reviewing stand. Money-raising activities such as bake sales and car washes kept the class members busy and the class treasury growing. Advisors were Mrs. Donnelle Bomben and Mr. Harold Child. As sophomores the class selected Monin Mendoza and Rogert Aguirre as Soph Hop Queen and King. Dancing to the sounds of Heather the Class of 77 and 78 combined the dance into the Soph Hop!Junior Prom. Leading the class in building their second float Race to Victory were Dana McCampbell, president: Christina Bacchini, vice-president: Jeannette Amar, secretary and Erica Jensen, treasurer. Class advisors were Mrs. Bomben and Mr. Child. Finally placing in the Homecoming Float competition the Class of 78, as juniors won second place with John the Dons . With officers Stan Nunn, president, Robert Aguirre, vice-president, Christina Bacchini, treasurerg Laura Sanabria, secretary and advisors still Mr. Child and Mrs. Bomben the class sponsored the girls-ask-boys Turn-about Dance. In their last year at high school the Class of 78 got their act together and captured the coveted Home- coming Spirit Trophy by amassing the most points. During the summer months the seniors held bake sales to raise money for their Senior Ball. ln Septem- ber they sponsored an aftergame dance with music provided by South Bound. The seniors also hosted the Homecoming Dance and a record dance after a basketball game. Their final dance was held at the Stock- ton lnn, a last minute change from Oakland, as the Senior Class held their annual Ball. The Senior Ball theme was Footloose and Fancy Free. Finishing their final year the Seniors and their dates travelled to Grad night at Disneyland. And in June the Class of 78 marched on to Ohmstede Field to the sounds of Pomp and Circumstance to bid farewell to Liberty in Graduation ceremonies. The class was led by Robert Aguirre, president: Michelle Twedt, vice- president: Dina Ghilarducci, secretary, Leticia Lopez, treasurer and Mr. Child and Mrs. Jeannie Glenn, ad- visors. The Class of 79 led by Anna Juarez, president, Regina Rios, vice-president: Mary Rosa, secretary, Lisa Schwitters, treasurer and advisors, Mrs. June Drake and Mr. Joe Tovar, was extremely active this past year. They won the first football and basketball rallies. During Homecoming Week the Junior Class captured their third straight first place in float competition. They also captured first places in Dress-up Day, Jersey Day, Hat and Sunglasses Day, and in the Pie-eating contest. The juniors also kept busy sponsoring money-raising events such as cleaning up after football games, selling raffle tickets for five-foot sandwiches and selling candy suckers. They joined with the Sophomore Class in hosting the combined Soph Hop!Junior Prom in the gym with a theme of Always and Forever. ln only their second year the Class of 80 was able to capture points enough to win second place in the float competition with Charge the Mats. In other Homecoming competition the sophomores captured second place at the rally and were second overall in points for the Spirit Trophy. Trying to raise money the Sophomore Class sold key chains, washed cars, sold candy and chances on a sub sandwich. The class was led by Ralph Rodriquez, president, Avelina Quintanilla, vice- president: Mari- anne Gonsalves, secretary and Lupe Melgoza, treasurer. Class advisors were Mr. Frank Payne and Ms. Nan- cy McLaren. V The newest class at Liberty, the Class of 1981, was led by Jeanne Gallegos, president: Tina Mason, vice- president: Richard Cabral, treasurer and Paula Lorenzetti, secretary, with advisors Mr. Jim Nabas and Car- olyn McNabb. The freshmen were active in Homecoming competition as they built their first float. To raise money the Freshmen Class sold candy, hosted a disco dance, washed cars and had a cake sale. The Senior Class will take with them the memories of four years of high school, of sandwich sales, late nights during Homecoming Week, senior cut-day, parties on the beach, Grad night and trips to Santa Cruz.
