Librarian KATHERINE SGRENSON .-Xss1stantLibrar1an 24 In Daily Chores New to the library this year were women from the community to as- sist the librarian in cleaning the li- brary, answering the telephone, and straightening the book shelves. New magazines which were sub- scribed to this year were American, Rifleman, Ingenue, Family Health, Skin Diver and buffer. New equipment added to the li- brary this year were movie projectors, record players, film strip projectors, and additional micro film. To instruct students on uses of the library, how to locate books, and finding information in past volumns of magazines was librarian, Mr. Sharafanowich and assistant librar- ian, Mrs. Kathleen Sorenson. Student aids also assisted the li- brarian in keeping up the library. These students are in the library each period of the day. 'iso 42 s f Group Counseling Starts This year a new project was started in the counseling department. En- titled Group Counseling , it was headed by Mr. Henry Raming and was aided by Mrs. June Drake, school psychologist. The main purposes of group coun- seling are to talk about common concerns or problems, express feel- ings in a small group, and to help students to understand each other. Some of the regular duties of the counselors this year were handling transfers, arranging and discussing classes with students, having con- ferences with students' parents, and helping students with their many social and school problems. Candy stripers were formed this year by the school nurse, Mrs. Bar- bara Bonnickson. Groups were started in September and January. School psychologist, Mrs. Drake, was busy talking with parents and students about many home, family, and social problems. M 5? Language Classes Cperate Cn Rotational System ii French and Latin classes are par- ticipates in a rotational language sys- tem which permits desired languages rotated in designated years. This means that since French I and Latin II were taught this year, they would not be repeated next year since there is a lack of funds. But they would return in the 1972-1973 year. Next year the Language Department will offer French II and Latin I. While the French I class studies conversations and culture through bright new audio linqual methods, the Latin II class employed new text- books, Artes Latinae Il, which is part of an individualized system of study chosen by their instructor. The Latin classes are also engaging in field trips to museums, and local and state conferences to further their studies. Porto's desk in order to view his work.
