If his friend had found him reading that story, there is ,no doubt but that said friend iwould have been very disgusted, idespite the fact that the author p :of the book, is 'V-ery pOL..ftO OIDSCTVC The BiI'e.,H Yular, and a man who handles his ,stories in a very human way. 4 This is just one little con- Qversation, but you still doubt- Eless hear such remarks every day yof your life. Is it any wonder then, that the lis- itener refuses to read HThe Con- ?quest of Canaan,H by Booth Tark- ington, when he knows very well that the person who made the re- marks is very fond of that book? J You can not blame him if he judges the books by the reader, and the same may be said or the Qlight reader who hears his read- ing being laughed at.
