LIBERTE 1975 Liberty High School, Clarksburg, West Virginia Our years in high school have been filled with new experiences, with warm friendships, with the chance to gain greater knowledge, and with a better understanding of our surroundings. Life continues day after day, and with the passing of each day we find ourselves growing older. We also have discovered that we will never be able to re-live our experiences except by memories. The Journalism Staff of 1974-1975 prepared this book to serve as a record of the experiences and memories in our last year of high school. As we remember the past and prepare for the future, we look back upon the years knowing that, We May Never Pass This Way Again. Terry Hurst, Editor in Chief Staff Percy Ashcraft Cindy Barberio Melanie Flowers Mike Gallo 3 We May Never Pass This Way Again . . . Life ... so they say is but a game and they let it slip away. Love like the autumn sun should be dying but it's only just begun. Like the twilight in the road up ahead, they don't see just where we’re going. All the secrets in the universe whisper in our ears and all the years ome and go. Take us up, always up. WE MAY NEVER PASS THIS WAY AGAIN. 10 11 M So I wanna laugh while the laughing is easy. I wanna cry if it makes it worth while. I may never pass this way again, that's why I wanna grow and do. You make me feel like I'm more than a friend. Like I’m the journey and you're the journey's end. I may never pass this way again. That's why I wanna grow and do. WE MAY NEVER PASS THIS WAY AGAIN. 15 u berk HIGH' LIEERTY HIGH SCHOOL A The Mighty Class of 975 I Ml 1 Mil Seniors show their spirit. Paget Allison David Alonso Teresa Anania Margie A. WILSON CURREY The Guiding Hands Mr. Wilson Currey, principal of Liberty High School, has been one of the main reasons for the success of this consolidated school. Mr. Currey started his teaching career in Marion County, where he taught social studies at Fairmont Junior High. He served as principal at Sardis Junior High School and later at Wyatt Junior School in Harrison County. He was transferred to Roosevelt Wilson High School as princi- pal for seven years. We have come a long way, baby. We have developed into one student body, with more espirit de corps than the First Marine Division.'' Our visitors are impressed with our new building and the care you have taken of it. Our interest in athletics is shown by your attendance and support of our teams. We have blazed a trail for others in the county to fol- low or emulate in all fields of educational endeavor. It will be difficult for the students who follow you to make the giant strides or match the accomplishments of the past two years. We, the students, would like to congratulate Mr. Currey for his successful accomplishments at Liberty High School. of Liberty 74 Mr. Jerry McKeen, assistant principal, received his AB degree from Fairmont State College, MED from Pennsylvania State and post graduate work from W. Va. University. His teaching career began in Pennsylvania where he taught speech, drama, and English. In 1970 he taught English at Victory High School. In 1971 he was appointed to the position of assistant principal at Victory. When asked about Liberty and its students, Mr. McKeen replied, There is no other place I'd rather be than here at Liberty, not only because it's a new school but because of the people who go here. We. the students, would like to thank him for helping with the Student Council, for starting Liberty traditions, and for letting the students get involved with Liberty High School activities. MR. Charlie Lindsay ”WE MAY NEVER PASS THIS WAY AGAIN.” It seems as though it was only yesterday that we began as sophomores in three different schools and only hours ago that we combined as one class: the class of 1975. We have been told by older friends, Enjoy your high school years, for they are the best of your lives. As the time of our departure draws near, we realize that our friends were right. Although we have grasped the truth too late, each of us will always remember our high school days filled with dances, games, studies, friends, and teachers. We, the Journalism Staff, hope that we have captured some of these moments so that they may be re- lived over and over again as the years go by. We would like to thank our fellow students, and teachers, who have helped make this book possible. I would also like to express my appreciation to the Journalism Staff for their hard work and moral sup- port. Terry Hurst, Editor 208
