. ADM1N1STRAT1U 111 PTY YEARS O PRUGRESS . . . MR. DAVID E. PANEBAKER District Principal The original part of the present Liberty school building has been in continuous use for instruc- tion of pupils in grades kindergarten to twelve from September 1912 to June 1963. This June will mark the fiftieth full year of occupancy by pupils in the district. The enrollment in 1912 was 6115. As a result of growth. additions were made to the original building in 1929 and 1941. A temporary structure was erected on the school grounds in 191149. Since then it has been necessary to rent outside facilities and institute double sessions to relieve overcrowded classrooms. These conditions resulted in the need for the construction of a new junior- senior high school building. The past fifty years' growth in the district might well be indicative of what may be expected in the next half century. The present enrollment is 1356 pupils. There were fifteen teachers in 1912 compared to 102 now. The former library of 339 books has grown to a library of 15,600 books. Our graduating class has increased from the original thirteen to a senior class of 85. During this half century, the academic course of study has been expanded to include the courses found in a modern comprehensive high school. Our new high school will embrace all the latest fa- cilities for a sound educational program. The high school years for pupils contain a host of experiences. 1 hope each experience is at- tractive and in some way rewarding. As administrators and teachers are sensitive to their pro- fessional obligation and pupils acquire a zest for learning, then the school will become a strong force for individual growth.
