Wifh The elecTion of Norberf MaTzinger as Presidenf, assisfed by Vice-PresidenT Tom Finn, Sec- reTary Wesley Many and Treasurer Allan Hasbrouck, we officially became The freshman class in The Tall of I943, diffidenfly ready for whaf The fufure held in sTore. ln December we sTaged our firsT imporTanT social funcfion, Holiday lnn, a Chrisfmas parTy, under The direcTion of Miss Mauer. As sophomores Tom Finn moved up To The presidency wiTh Allan Hasbrouck, vice-presidenT, and Bill Haflin, Treasurer. Wesley Many again held The posiTion of secreTary, which office he was To reTain ThroughouT The succeeding elecfions. Again a class parTy highlighTed our social affairs for The year. ThaT spring, class elecTions were held for The following year. Irving Doynow was chosen presi- denT and David Johnson, vice-presidenf. Bill Haflin, who refained his posifion of Treasurer, had To relinquish iT in The middle of The year To Norberf Mafzinger, due To his holding Too many poinTs. AlThough noT parT of our class hisTory iT may be inTeresTing To noTe ThaT several world evenfs made imporTanT hisfory during our sophomore year. ln May, l945, V-E Day was proclaimed, a monfh afTer Presidenf RoosevelT's deafh on April IZ. ThaT summer Japan surrendered, Thus end- ing World W'ar Two. By The Time we reached The sTaTus of iuniors we had gafhered enough courage To underfake somefhing never before aTTempTed in L.H.S. Under The direcTion of Mrs. Dowling we wrofe our own Junior play, Uncle Harry Comes To, which was presenfed in April. ThaT spring iT was our class' Turn To produce The STudenT Council officers for The following year. Irving Doynow, presidenT, and Donald Huffmire, vice-presidenT, were The sTudenT body's choice. Under The leadership of Donald Hansen we aT lasT could proudly be known as The Senior Class. Larry Klein and Allan Hasbrouck were vice-presidenf and Treasurer respecfively. We sTarTed The year successfully wiTh The magazine drive, in which The sales nearly doubled Those of The previous year, making This The largesf drive ever sfaged. AnoTher ouTsTanding evenT was The senior-faculfy baskefball game in March, in which boTh boys' and girls' senior Teams were vicforious. This was The firsT Time ThaT The faculfy was complefely defeafed. Ofher highlighfs of The year were The senior play, Spring Green, produced in November un- der Miss Rice's direcfion, The banquef in February and Senior Day in April. The evenT climaxing our social funcfions was The prom held in May. WiTh pride we, The fifTieTh graduafing class, can read over This brief ouTline which brings back memories of happy and evenfful years, and feel ThaT we have made a worfhwhile and memor- able imprinf on The pages of our alma maTer, L.H.S.
