Through our layouts, cover, and geometric de- signs, we have tried to bring a contemporary feeling into your annual. Using simplicity as our symbol, we present what we believe to be a clear and modern picture of school days at LHS, However, we feel that there is no better symbol than the student him- self, The HARVESTER Sta ff Editor-in-Chief E Administration and Faculty Special Events Organizations 2 Admlmstrauon Actxvmes SPOUS and and Advertising Faculty Sports 3 There is beauty in the usual - it's all in the point ofview. . . if a flying trip tothe reality of the beauty of LHS is an impossibility, try taking a different slant on your own familiar world, , , DEDICA T10 Why do we dedicate the HAR- VESTER to you? BECAUSE you came through these doors at dawn, and didn't leave until dark, giving your day to youth - at times not a very re- warding occupation, BECAUSE you helped to make this year of '60 the best year ever, and BECAUSE you were there when we needed you most, we giveto you the most precious gift we have to offer, , ,the dedication of a year of work, a year of memo- ries. IN VARSITY REVIEW The liberty Panthers captured the District Crown for the third straight year. In the first game of the season the Liberty Panthers defeated the Deer Park Deer 20-14, thus keeping up the tradition of winning the opening game since 1951. C3 The French Buffaloes staggered the Liberty Panthers rly in the season, defeating them 20-13. This loss to the Buffaloes signified the first time that the Pan- thers have lost on their home ground since 1957. Liberty struck three times in a row in quick succes- sion, defeating the Alvin Yellow Jackets 25-14, TRIUMPH YO U By overpowering Alvin, the Panthers gained re- venge against last year's only regular season loss. The Panther eleven scored early to skunk the Jasper Bulldogs 36-6 in their annual non-district collision. Liberty began District warfare by toppling the Cleveland Indians in a Homecoming tilt '28-6. The Liberty Panthers kept their district record clean when they stewed the Woodville Eagles 44-O in a loop 22-AA scrape, The well-fed Panthers stepped up a notch to defeat the AAA Silsbee Tigers 36-8. Liberty, Defending District 22-AA Champs, cinched at least a tie for district this year when they cooled the Livingston Lions 41-O. The Liberty Panthers became undisputed bear- ers ofthe 1959 District 22-AA flag when they defeated the Dayton Bronchos 35-7. The Panthers hopes of becoming state-champs were scuttled when they were stopped by the Bellville Brahmas 28-20 in the Bi-District tilt.
