xx X Dear Students, If we take a close look at the path made by the feet of those that have pioneered our Public Education System, we will find that they did not sway to the left or right to comply with any selfish interest, but they strove to walk straight re- gardless of the consequence to themselves, thereby obtain- ing a goal that is worthy of the respect of our profession. Mg. ry' , gui ' NN 1 W at . if r X Dear Students, Today we hear a great deal about the grave situation confronting the world. Practically all of our public leaders, in their speeches and writings, emphasize the hopelessness and futility of our plight. I wish to recommend an old Chinese proverb which represents a crisis not as a cause for despair but as a situation presenting great opportunities. We, admittedly, are facing perilous times, but the greater the peril the greater the opportunities. Let us purge ourselves of gloom and pessimism, accept the challenge, and prepare our minds and bodies for leadership in the great struggle toward a new and brighter era for mankind. Sincerely, Wjfijvdwiwyw W. J. Harlan, Asst. Superintendent Liberty High School Mg. AQ. ' ,far K? W :Xxx . Qs infix t X X? f
