I I THE DEVILIER We, the Annual Staff of 1955-56, take this opportunity to express our feelings aboutaTHE DEVILIER. - THE RED DEVIL has been our beloved annual for seven long years. During this time many boys and girls have entered our school and de- parted as women and men to take their place in life. We havowitnessed many changes in the world, nation, state, and county. The standards in life have been changed. The ideals of life have been raised. It is with these thoughts that the 1955-56 annual staff changes the name of our annual to keep up with modern times. We do not throw away the old name, THE RED DEVIL, in vain but only replace it with our new name, THE DEVILIER. We hope that THE DEVILIER lives up to the reputation set by its forebearer and climbs to higher heights. Then with these thoughts in mind, may the students always work hard and honestly to bring glory and honor to Liberty High School and THE DEVILIER. ' FOREWORD TABLE OF CONTENTS For our theme this year we have chosen doors . There are many doors to open and close in this life of ours. So, why not open a few doors of school life and education with the annual staff? Administration Classes. .. and Faculty Activities .... .... .... ..,. .... .... .... Athletics .... .... The colors of our previous annuals have not been adequate to cope with modern times, modern art, and vast changing world we 'live in. Therefore, the 1956 Liberty High School Annual has a cover with a new design, new colors, and a new name. May the annual staffs of the future also select covers which keep up with the times. Liberty 24-Westminster 6-Liberty won over Westminster, the forward of the two, at Lib- erty. Westminster hoping to better their past season record, was stopped by a powerful Red Devil team. Lewis, Farr, and James again sparked on defense. Liberty 35-Honea Path 13-Liberty outclass- ed Honea Path by the score of 35 to 13. The team, as a whole, looked great in this game with Freeman and Herndon playing a fine of- fensive game. James and Gantt carried the defensive load. Liberty 6-Pickens 19-The Blue Flame of Pickens handed the Liberty Red Devils their first gridiron defeat by the score of 19-6. Hern- don, Trammel, and Freeman led the Red Dev- il's on offense. The Liberty team lacking their usual defensive power was overpowered by a strong Pickens offensive team. Liberty 6-Walhalla 7-Liberty, having won Page Sixty-Four three and losing only to Pickens, was handed its second defeat by the Razorbacks of Walhalla. Liberty, although trying to come back, was de- feated by a small margin of one point. Liberty 14-Abbeville 37-This time it was the Red Devils that were outclassed by a scrappy Abbeville team. The Red Devils were not up for this game. The team tried very hard but were not successful. Trammel and Freeman scored the only touchdown. S C H E D U L E Liberty Pendleton .L Liberty Westminster .
