Hi, my name is Martin Naber. I come from Germany. My country consists of two parts West and East Germany, The Eastern part has a communist government, but I am from West Germany, which is a democracy. My hometown is a very nice little town in Bavaria. The population is 45,000 inhabitants. Compared to American cities it is very old. The first farmers settled there 7,000 years ago. My father, in Germany, is a doctor and my mother is a housewife, I have a brother who is 21 years old. He graduated from high school two years ago and now works in a hospital. I also have a sister that is fifteen who still goes to school like me. We all like music and play different instruments. I myself play the violin and cello. We also all like skiing and hiking. Here in the USA I stay with the Otto family. Jay is my older brother and Christine is my younger sister. This is my first year in Football and I really enjoy it. Although the weather in California is always nice and warm I miss in some ways our colder climate in Germany. So far I've already seen alot of California and I am looking forward to a great year. All my AFS experiences fearthquakesll have been very exciting and I want to encourage every student to join one of the AFS programs. It is really important for everybody to know something about other countries and cultures. AES-NEW ZEALAND LISA WHITNEY I stayed on the North Island in a small town called Foxton. I had a wonderful time with my host family, and my house was filled with warmth and love. We lived on a farm that had many different animals. While staying with my host family for six weeks, I also attended school. The last three weeks of my stay was spent at an Outdoor Pursuits Centre. While there, we went river rafting, skiing, rockclimbing, absail- ing, kayaking, back- M i I I ii I packing, and a lot more.
