CLASS PROPHECY It IS a bright Autumn day ln the year 1956 A young man weary wlth wandermg seeks the quiet shade of a large elm tree As he slts beneath the shady boughs hrs mmd wanders back to the wear 1946 He remembers that sunny 'Vlay mornmg when forty one 'bright eager semors walked out mto the world of the future As he was thus remmlscmg he fell asleep and as he lay dreaming he thought he heard a vonce calhng hrs name Rlsmg to hrs feet he walks around the tree--there before hum stood a httle man Vt hat s that behxnd hlm' A helncopter? While look mg at this sight the man spoke So you wonder what has become of your classmates' At a nod from the young man the stranger went on Get mto the helxwpter and 1 will take you to them We ll start the vnslt at your old home place-The Lxberty Center Hugh School Chmbmg mto the cockpnt they wmg thelr way back to the famllxar old school Isn t that John Westhoven coachmg the Tnger Champnons' asked the young man Yes and that large garage a httle Carther up the street 18 owned by .hm Slee and John Kern the strang er replled As they fly across the Wabash ranlroad tnacks they see Bernard Nlctabe standmg rn front of his new pool room And what rs this lsnt that the former Grace Nicely and Eileen 1IcBr1de chattmg whxle their children play close by? Through the window of the new Clover Farm store we see Grace Kessler passing out smiles as well as gm cerles, across the counter As they approach the edge of the town a brllhant slgn catches therr eye Lookmg close they observe that It IS advertlsmg the Fackler Beauty Slalon Turmng the plane they fly out over the frelds beyond where Delmar Frysmger IS domg a swell yob of farmmg wlth his new Jeep We take off agam and fly over the Bowhng Green State Umversrty There leadmg the college band 15 Bur dette Fry We also see Professor Ervm Sharp who ns teachmg chexmstry there Before we go on our way we fly ov er aJaataurant and the proprietor xs none other than lmo Haffey Gammg altitude they puck up speed and soon they are flying oxer loledo Looking down they see 'Tony s famous nite club, owned by horns Saneholtz Travehng on they soon fmd themselves m Chxcago Here they s e Kenneth Smith wnth campaign manager kenneth Upell lncxdentally Ken IS runnmg for Presldent They leave thls beautiful city and soon fmd themselves ln Holly wood Stopping to refuel, they enter a tmy restaurant Here they see Don Bressler and Stella Cymbola relaxing after a strenuous day at the studio They are featured as the most sensatlonal dancmg stars Lookmg across the street we see ln brxght lights Vernon Rohrs the second Alan Ladd Now he ns the heartbeat of the bobby soxers We meet hlm coming out of the theater where a premler of lus new picture has Just been made He tells us about the wonderful beauty salon run by Nhldred Moore and Norma Babcock It IB the larg est an town Of course they stop for a chat Before we leave Vernon, we fmd out that his next leadmg lady IS none other than Barbara Schmxdt Gomg 'back to the plane, they travel on and soon are m Florida where Vlrgnma Cunningham has Just been named the champion swlmmmg star Ghdmg up toward New York they fmd Dons Baker at the famous XX aldorf Hotel She has just been pre sented the Dnst ngulshed Flymg Cross for bemg the fxrst woman to make a non stop flight around the world They go mto the great Hubba Hubba Club owned by Herbert Moore Here th y fmd Nell Vexgel and his famous Vagabonds featured Who IS that Sax player' Could xt be Yes rt IS Bull George and Clns melodwus saxa phone' Isnt that Kathleen Ellsworth as the vocalist? As we slt down at the table two wzalters come up to us Why nt s Donald Splcer and Keith Smlth It certainly IS grand to see all of these people How about gomg to the Strand while we re here? Here s a tax: why the driver IS Kenneth Brddle' As we go mto the theater we see Ed1th Calkms ln the ticket window and Esther Ordway ushenng us to our seats The curtam opens and nght ln the middle of 'The Rocketeers of 1956 are Joan Babcock Eleanor Gruber Margaret Klgar Gerry Kessler and Nellie Fuhr Back to the helicopter they go and their next stop 15 ln Braznl where the famous sculptress, Ahce Bowers, rs about to unvell her latest figure They do not stop long here but fly on across the Atlantxc. Here they fmd Germame Van Heck and Vlvlan Hoyt dolng mlsslonary work rn the heart of Afnca Wmgmg their way on northward they fmd themselves ln Berlin Germany They stop for a vlslt to the op era On the stage IS none other than Audrey Proudfoot glvlng a. famous plano solo As she ends the stlrrmg march her hands hut the keys wlth a loud crash' the young man slts up and rubs hls eyes Once more he funds himself nalone They are all MDD! he says, and standmg up he whispers 'God bless them-every one 21 .
