7a DAVID L. EDRIS August 23, 1939-September 10, 1949 A NEW LITTLE LAD UP IN HEAVEN O what do you think the angels say? said the children up in heaven. There's a dear little lad coming home today, see, he's almost ready to fly away from the earth we used to live in. Let's go and open the gates of joy-open them wide for the new little lad, Said the children up in heaven. sa Cod wants him up here, where His little ones meet, Said the children up in heaven. He will play with us on the golden streets. Ah, he has grown too fair-he has grown too sweet- he needs heave-n's sunshine, that gilds this side of the gates of joy, Said the children up in heaven. SO THE KING called down from the angel's dome, My darling lade arise and come to the place prepared in thy Father's home, To the home my children live in. Let's go and watch at the gates of joy and be ready to welcome the new little lad. Said the children up in heaven. n Far down on the earth do you hear them weep-for the dear little lad has gone to sleep, the shadows of death fall and the night clouds sweep over the earth we used to live in-But we'll go and open the gates of joy, Oh, why do they weep for their dear little lad, said the children up in heaven. at Fly with him quick, O, angels dear, Said the children up in heaven. See-he is coming, LOOK THERE, at the jasper light on his sunny hair-where the veiling clouds are riven. AH, HUSH-HUSH-HUSH all host of heaven!-for the KING HIMSELF, Jesus Christ, The Lord is at the gates of joy-LOOK-LOOK He is taking his hand, dear tired little lad,--a leading him through the gates into heaven.
