Sharon Speece, Norma Niblick, john Bohr, Dianna Showalter, 14nd THE STUDENTS LEARNED TO TYPE Mr. Fruth employed many different tech- niques in his class to make typing much more interesting. Among the new ideas was a hot rod race that measured the rate of words per minute the student typed. Due to conflicting schedules and over- crowded rooms, there were three classes of typing a dayg but as the year ended, the Class was held only once dtiily. 7w42'v JOHN FRUTH GRACE SMITH MAX HAUK NEIL ROE MABLE METZ LLOYD BIBERSTINE 'VIP' -X' Bill Clark, Bill Elliott, Mr. Hauk, Phil Cunningham, Stanley Hoffacker We .leaned ,Norman Edris and Tom Tinkel in a game of doubles We learned much in our various classes through- out the year. We enjoyed our chemistry experiments, even the minor explosions that we hadg and the vari- ous odors that some of the students did not seem to appreciate. We also enjoyed our ping pong games during the noon hour. Before this time, the annual parade had not been held due to various reasons. This year Liberty had almost 100 per cent representation. The Camera Club, with the help of Mr. Biberstine, displayed at the fair, pictures of the activities that went on during the early partlof the school year. The seniors presented their class play, 1lI'L2r.r, on October 16 and 17, then four days later, on October 21, left for a six day trip to Washington, D. C., and New York City. After the class returned home, they began earnestly selling Christmas Cards, stationery, and Memorjef subscriptions. The exciting, eventful, period came to a close on commencement day, April 28, 1953. ay 1955 Barbara Meyer, Eleanor Morgan. Reverend King xx. , Q U -1 . Terry Craig, captain, accepted the trophy on behalf of the team, from Superintendent Lloyd Lieurance. LIONS HAVE UNSUCCESSFUL SEASON Through an unusually unsuccessful season, the Liberty Lions fought all the way despite several handicaps. Many difficulties, unforseen at the first of the season, developed to make the going rough for the Liberty Five. The freshmen and sophomore boys, led by senior Terry Craig, played fine ball against heavy odds which makes the prospects for the 1953-54 season seem very bright indeed. We On November 4, 1952, it was election day all over the United States: and the senior government class held a mock election on that date at the high school to help teach the students the value of intelligent voting. Some of the seniors were in charge of making ballots, some had the responsibility of registering all those who wanted to take part. Everyone who wanted to vote had to be registered by October 31. Voting began at 11:30 A.M. and was held in voting booths on the stage. Members of the senior class counted the ballots, and at 2:30 P.M., the election board listed their returns: Ike, by a landslide.
