The team entirely rebuilt from last year, lacked a great deal in size and experience. It wasn't until their Hfth game that the Liberty Center five came out on top. They then won four in succession before being downed by the Roanoke Stonewalls. The next game with Lafayette Central put the fifth game for the season in the winning column. The entire team although they didn't turn in an outstanding record showed a great deal of spirit and teamplay the entire season and losing only four by graduation, have a good outlook next year. Kenneth Hunnicutt. Rex Gregg, Roger Lash, and Max Stanton will be lost by graduation. Liberty 16 Van Buren 29 Liberty 16 Jackson 55 Liberty 30 E. Rockcreek 65 Liberty 3U Lancaster 6-1 Liberty 30 W. Yvonne Eckhart, and Virginia Ivins, The play takes place in a small country town called Fairweather. It ir briefly centered around the fact that Ginger Jones wants to become a nurse. Darwin Luther and his secretary, Oscar Ping, spotted the nice cozy house where Ginger, her mother. Mis, Jones. and sister Roberta live. Luther decided to stay there as a patient to avoid Cynthia Roberts, who is a designing female. The climax takes place in the Jones home and is really exciting when Dar- win and Smoky dress up as ladies so Dr. Bottleneck won't recognize them It proves to be quite funny when Praline and Opal Dome take the scene as a couple of club ladies. The story takes place on an Oklahoma farm in the home of Mrs. Rosa Perry, a widow. Mr. Merridew, a crooked speculator, is trying to buy her farm. Gladys, who is a city lady, is chased by a cowl Sis Riggs hits the cow with a stone: then it chases her. She bumps Merridew, and the feud is started from then until the end of the play. Mrs. Berry finally sells her farm and moves to the city, believing that there is oil on her farm, but there isn't. Merridew demands his money back but is arrested by Clarence, the mysterious young man, It turns out that Aaron is the one who dumped oil in the old spring. The Girl in Red plays an important part in the way the whole play turns out. It turns out happy as the widow and Aaron are getting married and taking Sis back to Oklahoma with them. She was to be in Mrs. Dc-Smytlrs tender care until she reached the age of twenty-one: then the inheritance and man- agement of the home was to be hers. Mrs. DeSmyth. because of a few debts. tries te keep the inheritance from Jane for another year, but is foiled by Janes Aunt, Mrs. A. Turney. Bugher, who has followed photography as a hobby, was prevail- ed upon to sponsor this group and teach them the process of picture making. A dark room was fitted into a small supply room and much equip- ment was bought to be used by the club. The facilities available to the camera fan members consist of a 4x5 Crown Graphic Camera, Federal 4x5 Enlarger, General Electric Light Meter, and the necessary equipment for complete darkroom processing. ln the future, we hope to buy a print dryer and reducing lens to make thc dark room process more rapid. Most of the above facilities were made available by the senior classes of 1948--19 and 50 to help make picture taking and processing a more en- joyable procedure. Trick photography should make a very interesting page or two in the future annuals of L. C. H. S. PAGE THIRTY-SIX RADIO CLUB sum' kv Standing: Vice-president. Dean Houtx: Sponsor, Mr. Bugher: Sectetarv-trcas ure: James Roberts: Robert Gavin: Trustee Richard Stroud: and Von llotl' acker. Seated: James Williams and President, William Clark. During the summer of 1949, the Liberty Center Radio Club was oreaiiizel and soon there after was granted a license trcm tlic Federal Ciimmunication Commission to operate an Amateur Radio Station with Richard Stroud as the trustee of the station. The call letters for the L, C. Radio Club are WQHWR. After receiving the license. the transmitter was built b ,',' Richard Stroud. The equipment or parts used to make the transmitter are largely war surplus items: hence, the cost was held to a minimum amount. Additional equipment was given to the school by Richard Stroud. Robert Armstrong. 'ind Dan Al- dred. The only equipment completely new is the receive.: which is a llylli- Crafters S--LOA. A lot of time was spent lgetore the transmitter and antenna -vsteni xveiv properly matched, but then results began to happt n. For the nrst time, sev- eral students experienced broadcasting and found a great thrill in talking with people up to several thousand miles distance awav from our location in the high school. VVe have talked to amateurs all over the United States and including the countries of France, England. South Wales, Canada. and Puerto Rico. The list is continually growing longer as time moves on and in thi- future. we hope to have a schedule with some of thc foreign countries. The club meets every two weeks and as a part of the activity. receivers for short wave reception have been built: in order that the .nembcrs niav listen to the school making its contacts. Code practice and radio theory are also a part of each meetings activity. Dues are contributed by the members to purchase small tools and equipment for general construction work. The sponsor and members of the club wish to express their appreciation for the work and use of the equipment made possible by Richard Stroud.
