S. degrees at Ohio State University. He majored in mathematics and education and minored in English, physics, and physical education. In order to educate a youth, he should be taught wholly. Besides being taught as a whole, one should have various fields taught to him. Mr. Butler has al- ways spent his spare time in helping anyone that needs help. PRINCIPAL Mr. Howard has completed his second year as principal at Liberty. He received his B. A. degree at Findlay College and Bowling Green University. He majored in French and minored in physical educa- tion. Our modern education has been civilized because we have attempted to bring about the education of every one. Mr. Howard has proved this in attempting to put forth his best knowledge to the students. Treasurer 4 May Day 4 CLASS PROPHECY One cold, winter night in December, 1960, I was driving along an old country road when I came upon an old lady who was walking along carrying a large bundle. Being the gentle- man l was, I stopped and offered to drive her to her destination. She accepted the offer and said that she must repay me or do something in retum. I could see by the way she was dressed that she didn't have much money, so I promptly said that maybe someday she might be able to do something for me. As we talked she told me that she possessed mystic powers which enabled her to see into distant places. The idea then dawned on me that she could tell me what the students of the class of '55 of Liberty-Benton High. School were doing now that they were out of school. When I mentioned the idea to her, she opened her bundle and took out an odd-shaped object which looked like a small, shiny mirror. As she gazed in- to the mirror, she told me that this is what sbe saw: Nina Dukes is working in Chicago as a wrestling instructor and president of the Rough and Ready Rassling Wrestlers, Inc. She used to be U. S. champ. Barbara Beucler is one of the most famous women in the history of auto races. She is champion driver of The Women Race Drivers of America. Rex Siferd is the owner and foreman of a large cattle ranch in Texas. Wayne Hoenicke is a happy and contented husband and father. He has five children. Barbara Cramner is the captain of the Women's Basketball Association of America. Her team has been a champion team for the last five years. Marilyn Flickinger is the dean of a nursing school in Califomia. , Bill Fry is in Florida operating a root beer stand. He has become very wealthy with all his business investments. Earl Edmister is still in Findlay operating a large general store. He is really giving the Country Market quite a time with competition. Myron Heidlebaugh is one of the most famous persons of our time. He is an admiral in the United States Navy. Jonny Saums is a happy husband to Nancy Williamson. While Nancy runs a day nur- sery in their home, Jonny works coaching football for Ohio State University. I might add that they have quite an addition of their own in their nursery, an even number of five child- ren to be exact. Norman Shank is in far off Africa on an expedition. He is a famed archaeologist. Dig- ging up tombs for scientific observation and that sort of work. Barney Heidlebaugh is now President of the Board of Directors of one of the most successful industries in the west, a milk-testing firm! Harold Williamson is the owner of three large farms in southwestem Ohio. Lora Williamson is the home economics teacher in a large high school in Montana. She seems to get along just fine with the students, too. Merle Butler has gone into the same line of business as Pete. He has several farms and country homes for sale and for rent. So if you need a home see Merle. He is living in In- diana now, by the way. Doris Wells is private secretary tp the president of a large New York firm. She seems to be making out quite well with her boss. And I mean in more ways than one! Jack Wells has made quite a name for himself in the United States Air Force. He is a general, by the way, and he enjoys his work very much. Orville Clymer is now in politics. He is running for Representative to the House come next election year. Nancy Tyson is very busy lately, bringing something new into the sports world. She is organizing a group of lady boxers . I hear they are terribly rough and oh So nice looking too! Donna Knepper has settled down and is now taking good care of her nice little family consisting of her hard-working husband and two little tots. One boy and one girlg Bob Arnold is in business school in Tiffin, and he seems to be doing very well for himself. Pat Marshall is a famous women's clothes designer and sole owner of The Tight Sweaters and Skirts Corporation in New York. Gene LaRoche, as we all know, is now a member of the President's cabinet. He is the Secretary of Agriculture. uM.rilynn Annual Staff 4 Student Council 1 Class Secretary 2 Class Treasurer 3 Superintendent Office 1 Principal ofsee 2 State Club Congress 3 National Club Congress 4 Str erInTheN' t 3 ll mg Ish !! We've had our share of hardship we've had our grief and fun, And now we close those big oak doors our High School days are done. As each of us step out that door we're in a world unknown, But all our life, the lives we lead we lead all alone. Of course we'll have companions who will share our daily deed, But only you, and you alone can work for what you need. As each of us step out that door our paths may separate, But wherever we go or whatever we do we must cooperate. When the time comes for us to leave you'll see no frowns or tears, For all our teachers have prepared us for the coming years. So when the class of 55 has finally reached that end, We'll go out into the world and straighten every bend. And wherever we go, whatever we do we will always have in mind, Good Old Liberty School Where we've spent most of our time. The Liberty-Benton Band of 54-55 started it's year out with a bang. On August 15, 44 brand-new suits were delivered to the school house. Our band was composed of: 1 flute, 9 clarinets, 4 saxaphones, 11 trumpets, 2 al- to horns, 4 trombones, 2 baritones, 1 tuba, 3 snare drums, 2 base drums, 1 cymbal, and 1 bell lyre. With 3 Majorettes, 2 flag carriers and Miss Petch as our leader, we can truly say that we had a very successful year. In September, the band played at the County Fair, on the afternoon of the 8th, and at the mass-band concert on the 10th. Also during the month of September, we played at Jenera. On October 27th, our band had the privi - lege of leading all of the County Bands at the gala Halloween Parade in Findlay. During football, the band played during the half-time shows. The spring of 55 was a busy one for the band. We played at the Coun- ty Auditions at McComb on March 4th and was well represented by 3 en- sembles, 2 clarinet ensembles, 1 trumpet trio and 1 brass sextette. At the end of the year, we were busy practicing for our Band Concert, which was April 15, and our final performance at the grand spectacle of May Day. -ui 4 GQ Q J ,f lf, v CQSAX ,, , 6-N f 1 Q' K f I 'LJ 5g 4 f ,gg 1 R :X JL, A 2 x V I 5 9 ? From the standpoint of developing sportsmanship and team spirit, this season's football can be considered a much better success than from the standpoint of wins and losses. As long as the boys have good spirit and good sportsmanship and desire to win, they will always be rewarded by knowing they have done their best even though their games aren't always in the winning column. i Guard: Jack Ridge, Center: Roger Zoll,g Guard: Charles Parkins Ends: Ronald Huysman, Herb Stump, Dean Cramner, Steve Kelley.
