We, the Senior Class of 1951, started into high school our freshman year with seven students from Benton Ridge and twenty-four from Liberty, making a class of thirty-one to start our first year. We were initiated into high school by an initiation party given by the seniors at the skating rink. The girls won the intramural basketball championship from the senior girls that year. The class decorated the May Day throne for the graduating seniors to com- plete the year's activities. The officers chosen that year were: President, Maurice Bosse, Vice President, Jim Mont- gomery, Secretary, Verdette Compton, Treasurer, Janet Ferrell, and Student Council members, Frances Watkins and Jerry Swisher. We entered the sophomore year with the thought that we were no longer greenies. The intramurals were won again that year by the undefeated sophomore girls. The ofiiicers selected to ofticiate during the year were: President, Maurice Bosse, Vice Presi- dent, Jim Montgomery, Secretary, Janet Ferrell, Treasurer, Mary Jane Light, Student Council, Shirley Strait and Jerry Swisher. With the idea that we were growing up, we entered our iunior year and succeeded in giving the class play Dark Mountain. The cast included, Verdette Compton as Mr. Fulton, Peg Ridge, Mrs. Fulton, Mary Jane Light, Ann, Barbara Wittenmyer, Susan, Elizabeth Hissong, Toni, Janet Ferrell, Judy, Bill Lanning, Ted, Jerry Swisher, an Indian, Jim Montgomery, a mountaineer, Maurice Bosse, Walter. Mr. Steele was the director of the play. We all had a lot of fun presenting it. This year the boys and girls both were victorious in the intramural games. We gave a Junior-Senior Banquet for the seniors and also decorated for their commencement services. The officers for the year were: President, Maurice Bosse, Vice President, Elizabeth Hissong, Secretary, Janet Ferrell, Treasurer, Mary Jane Light, Student Council, Barbara Wittenmyer and Jim Montgomery. We realized when we entered our senior year that it would be our last year here at LHS so we were determined to enioy every day of it. We started by electing: President, Mary Roller, Vice President, Jim Montgomery, Secre- tary, Janet Ferrell, Treasurer, Mary Jane Light, Student Council, Doris Schoonover and Bill lnbody as class officers to lead us through our last year. We then presented Bashful Bertie, our senior play, with Mrs. Wilson as the director. We were complimented on the direction and performance. Our Commencement and Baccalaureate were programs of deep concern to all of us tor they made us realize that our school days were over. I0
