We, the Senior Class of 1951, started into high school our freshman year with seven students from Benton Ridge and twenty-four from Liberty, making a class of thirty-one to start our first year. We were initiated into high school by an initiation party given by the seniors at the skating rink. The girls won the intramural basketball championship from the senior girls that year. The class decorated the May Day throne for the graduating seniors to com- plete the year's activities. The officers chosen that year were: President, Maurice Bosse, Vice President, Jim Mont- gomery, Secretary, Verdette Compton, Treasurer, Janet Ferrell, and Student Council members, Frances Watkins and Jerry Swisher. We entered the sophomore year with the thought that we were no longer greenies. The intramurals were won again that year by the undefeated sophomore girls. The ofiiicers selected to ofticiate during the year were: President, Maurice Bosse, Vice Presi- dent, Jim Montgomery, Secretary, Janet Ferrell, Treasurer, Mary Jane Light, Student Council, Shirley Strait and Jerry Swisher. With the idea that we were growing up, we entered our iunior year and succeeded in giving the class play Dark Mountain. The cast included, Verdette Compton as Mr. Fulton, Peg Ridge, Mrs. Fulton, Mary Jane Light, Ann, Barbara Wittenmyer, Susan, Elizabeth Hissong, Toni, Janet Ferrell, Judy, Bill Lanning, Ted, Jerry Swisher, an Indian, Jim Montgomery, a mountaineer, Maurice Bosse, Walter. Mr. Steele was the director of the play. We all had a lot of fun presenting it. This year the boys and girls both were victorious in the intramural games. We gave a Junior-Senior Banquet for the seniors and also decorated for their commencement services. The officers for the year were: President, Maurice Bosse, Vice President, Elizabeth Hissong, Secretary, Janet Ferrell, Treasurer, Mary Jane Light, Student Council, Barbara Wittenmyer and Jim Montgomery. We realized when we entered our senior year that it would be our last year here at LHS so we were determined to enioy every day of it. We started by electing: President, Mary Roller, Vice President, Jim Montgomery, Secre- tary, Janet Ferrell, Treasurer, Mary Jane Light, Student Council, Doris Schoonover and Bill lnbody as class officers to lead us through our last year. We then presented Bashful Bertie, our senior play, with Mrs. Wilson as the director. We were complimented on the direction and performance. Our Commencement and Baccalaureate were programs of deep concern to all of us tor they made us realize that our school days were over. In witness thereof we sign this document. 62441 w.is5.91.-..-A.-2' 9-Mfiwewszzs As we are browsing through the library this dull summer evening, we become curious as we begin to notice some familiar names in the news of different magazines, newspapers, and society columns. Why, they are the names of our old classmates! We see that Janet Ferrell has been a great success on stage and screen and has just received an Oscar for one of her latest pictures. In the radio and television log we read where Elsie LaRoche has realized her fondest dreams and is now the western singing star on TV Ranch. Her partner is Cactus Bill Inbody, who has be- come quite an artist at making brands out of people's initials. Also on television we find that since the Charleston fad has come back again, that Elizabeth Hissong and Jerry Swisher have put to good use the knowledge they gained back in their school days. They are star dance attractions everywhere, but right now they are appearing on their old friend Maurice Bosse's television show, Bosse's Brews. Maurice took his scientific knowledge and came up with some amazing concoctions. ln the society column we see where Delores Price is having her house redecorated and Mary Jane Light, who has become a very noted fashion designer is planning her draperies, walls, etc. Of course we must look at the sports page to see how our favorite teams are coming along. ln the big leagues we see that the player man- ager for the Indians is Karl Williamson, who has made quite a name for himself with the best batting average and most home runs for the last three years. And who else is the president of the club but Verdette Compton, who has been supporting them and all their pennant winning teams. Across the page is a full page ad on how to relieve your mind and get your troubles off your chest by coming to Brother Armstrong. He has become quite a well-to-do business man by being a professional listener. His associate, Peg, has also become quite wealthy by doing nothing but listen to people's troubles sympathetically. 79 ln the scientific magazine on the next table we see a large write-up on a very noted authority on lightning bugs. Why, it is Bill Lanning and we see in the picture that Doris Schoonover is his assistant. She became quite scientifically minded after her school days. We have noticed many colorful and attractive ads as we have been going through these dif- ferent magazines and papers and now we have the answer. Barbara Wittenmyer has established a very successful commercial art and advertis- ing business and is widely known all over the world. Helen Downing is the head art director and is looked upon as a great authority in com- mercial art. Right now we see one of their attrac- tive full page ads and it is advertising M 81 W Super Markets. Mary Roller is busily engaged in running a chain of stores with the home office in Wisconsin. She always seemed interested in that sort of thing and now her stores are the most modern and convenient in the world. ln the latest Life magazine we see a picture of Mickey LaRoche. We see that she has also done quite well for herself. She is now the owner of the most talked about herd of Holsteins in the country, has a famous dairy, and her herd has won many ribbons from the highest competition in the country. We are glad to see that Joellen and Marilyn are getting along so well. There is a nice picture of their new ultra modern home on South Main Street in Findlay. They are happily engaged in their work as chief supervisors of advertising and personnel at the Ohio Oil. And here is the Radio and Television Mirror with the feature article on Jim Montgomery and Mary Lou Brobst, who have become prominent figures in the music world. They have developed quite an act and have toured Europe, and the Islands three times. Well it's closing time at the library but it was well worth our time coming tonight because our questions have been answered on what our old friends and classmates at Liberty are doing now in this year of 1961. The girls started out in their freshman year as a victorious team by winning over the previously unbeaten senior girls. They have kept their record unblemished for the past three years by remaining undefeated. They are expecting to end their career this year with a perfect record. Along with their championship they have received the honor of pos- sessing the intramural trophy to display in their room. Also, they were awarded with gold pins given to them at the annual award assembly. The senior boys upset the favored class of '50 C10-91 to win the intra- mural championship last year. The boys runner-up team was the eighth grade whom they played last. The seniors are expecting to win again this year with the freshmen being the only obstacle in the way. The boys also received award pins last year at the award assembly. These games are played to create clean play and good sportsmanship among the high school grades. 54 5640060 SEPTEMBER 5-First day of school 'l5-Football-McComb-There 22-Arcadia-Here 23-P T A meeting 29-Footloall-Cory-Rawson-There OCTOBER 5-Freshman Initiation 13-Football-Leipsic-There 18-P T A meeting T8-End of first 6 weeks 20-Football-Mt.
