M O Q o 1 The Junior Prom was held in the Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday, May 10, 1952. The theme, Spring Fantasy, transformed the gymnasium into a haven of spring. Huge. multicolored paper balls were hung from the ceiling while the walls were decorated with large butterflies and flowers made from crepe paper. Baskets of apple blossoms, placed about the gym, added much to the spring theme. On each side of the thrones were trellises decorated with flowers. At 11:00 p.m. Norma Jean Hafferman and Kenneth Hoefner were crowned queen and king of the prom while Virginia Rice, accompanied by Dick Riddle, sang Make Believe. ,A Q51 j x Z3 X ., Sponsored by O. W9 Left to right: Marge Nelson, Glenda Carroll, Queeng Gloria Preston, Sherrie Belangie, On the evening preceding the homecoming game, the annual snake dance and coronation of the queen was held. The band and the twirlers, following the snake dance, led the parade to the football field. The princesses rode on a float decorated by the Peptomiss. When all arrived at the field a huge dummy representing the Polson Pirates, was burned. The L was lighted by the freshman boys. Paul Becarri, captain of the football team, crowned Glenda Carrell, senior, queen of the annual Homecoming. Mr. Erickson presented the queen and her attendants with corsages, Glenda's attendants were Marge Nelson, senior, Gloria Preston, sophomore, Sherrie Belangie, sophomore. The short program arranged by the Peptomiss consisted of pep talks by Coach Selstad and some of the alumni and school songs. The program came to a close with the Queen and parade returning to the school. , , o 4 Q Sponstled by DON'S SURPRISE CAFE

6 - lax doa This year the queen contest of the Hi-Jinx broke several records. It took in the most money ever grossed on this feature, and the winner attained the highest score of any queen ever crowned. The candidates were: Shirley Homann, seniorg Gail Sherman, juniorg Gloria Preston, sopho- moreg and Wava Olson, freshman. A very intensive two-week campaign resulted in the crowning of Gloria Preston as queen. The student chairman was Dolly Urdahl, seniorg the assistant chairman was Edith Jaros, juniorg and the faculty sponsor was Mrs. Boepple. Sponsored by THE WESTERN NEWS and JOHNNIE S, 319 W 9th Street
