She was raised in Monterey, Louisiana and enlisted in the United States Navy on 3 May I983.She completed basic training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, FL in July 1983, and continued on to Apprenticeship Training at Maffig Wells Naval Training Command. Orlando Fl. Her duty assignments include USS Emory S. Land CAS-393 at Naval Operation Base, Norfolk. Virginia, NAVCOMTELSTA Jacksonville, Florida, via RM C 7 School, COMPRSON ONE. NAVCOMTELSTA Diego Garcia, ASCOMM DET, ASCOMM Det Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico. Defense Information Systems Agency, Communications Management Control Activity in Arlington. Virginia, USS CHANCELLORSVILLE CCG-625 homeported in Yokosuka Japan, as a Detailer at Navy Personnel Command in Millington, Tennessee, USS BATAAN CLHD 55, homeported in Norfolk. Virginia and COMSUBFOR Norfolk VA. She was selected to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer in May 2005 while assigned to USS BAT.-X.-XX, While onboard BATAAN she accompanied the ship during Operation Iraqi FREEDOM Il and was one of the first Navy Warship that participated in Joint Task Force Hurricane Katrina search. rescue. and relief efforts. EXECUTIVE OFFICEK W f S .5 . Commander Bruce A. Apgar Jr. Commander Apgar enlisted in 1983 and completed Electricianis Mate 'CAN school and Naval Nuclear Power School before reporting to the NROTC program at the Pennsylvania State University. Following commissioning, CDR Apgar was assigned Division Officer tours in USS CLARK QFFG ll5 and completed a follow-on assignment as Navigator in USS MOUNT WHITNEY CLCC 205. He served Department Head tours in USS KLAKRING CFFG 425 as Combat Systems Officer and on the Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWO staff as Staff Operations Officer. Following a tour as Navigator in USS BATAAN CLHD 55, CDR Apgar was assigned as Executive Officer in USS GONZALEZ CDDG 665. CDR Apgar was assigned shore tours as an Officer Recruiter at NRD Pittsburgh and as a tactics instructor and Deputy Director at the Surface Warfare Officers School Command. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal C with Silver Star5, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal fwith two Gold Stars5, and various unit and campaign awards. CDR Apgar is married to the former Karin Quinn and has two sons. 5
