Its groves, surrounded by myrtle hedges, look like gardens, and here, in this monumental en- closure, all is peace and quiet- ness. ' Covering an area of more than one and one-half square miles, it was designed for the city of Genoa by the architect Giuseppe Resasco. It was begun in 1844, and completed rmore than ten years later.
