Ladies and Gentlemen. we are now bringing to you over station LUKE, the annual 1970 Rotary Bowl Game between Lexington and Jackson from Lexington High “TIGER STADIUM. As the crowd gathers. I recognir.e several of the fans to be members of the 1950 graduating class. It seems almost like a class reunion! As I come in the gat e I notice Imogene Townsend and Lyda Dickerson, who told me they were Commercial and English teachers, were selling tickets. There was Mary Beth Myracle. who came to Lexington as a Home Economics teacher hoping to ensnare a husband, only found more old maids such as Arba Me Peake. Story Jean Webb, and Johnny Eads. There seems to be a reserved section for such prominent couples as Musa and Bob Hart. Genevieve and Murl Garner. Lcasie Mae and 1. D. Cook, and Anita and James Bird. And there goes the principal, why. it is Jerry Smith who always wanted to be a school teacher. Here come the 1970 undefeated, unscored on Tigers! They are led by their captain. Segerson. Harold ' s offspring. Coaches Billy Joe Havener and John Roberts have been building up for this game since Coach Billy Kelley is scouting for Notre Dame. And now for the kickoff! Lexington kicking. Wait! It seems I have seen that figure somewhere before. Why. it is Royal Wood ' s son. Who else would you expect? There it goes and Jackson fumbles on our ten yard line. Pharmacist Wayne Hinson ' s son recovers the ball. This seems tobe a one-sided game . Why don ' t we look in the stands. What ' s all the commotion over there ? Why. it is Nellc and Bill Wheat with their nursery school. She always wanted a school and Brother! she ' s got one! The secretaries. Jean Bradfield. Danny Joy Bush. Faye Holmes. Edith Hart, and Berdine Kizer. are listening intently as Margie Anderson tells them what every secretary should know. Number 53. son of cotton and petroleum expert. Johnny Pearson, has just been brought off the field. We are sure he will soon be alright because there goes Dr. Ben Hay with his special nurses. Excclle Jowers. Betty Me Peake, and Betty Sue Martin. And now at the half, the score stands 20-0 in favor of Lexington. Lexington ' s one hundred piece bund led by their instructor. Vunce Little, is now forming un L“ out on the field. The football boys in their places, are about to witness the crowning of their 1970 Football Oueen. The maids, daughters of the former Peggy Patton and Dean Rhodes, ure now approaching the fifty-yard line. It seems history repeats itself for here come the queen, daughte r of Patsy and Ray Frizzell. Patsy looks as thrilled as she did the day she was crowned. |4
