Three Minute Visits The bell rings. Once we manage to fight our way out of the units, we’re off. For some, the four minutes between classes are spent in a mad quarter mile dash from J100 to the eastern boondocks of D House. The break gives others a chance to grab a quick snack en route to ANOTHER agonizing hour or a battle for the one pay phone that IS working. While cramming for tests and finishing homework are popular ways of spending these valuable min- utes, most of us just talk with the friends we haven’t seen for at least forty-five minutes. 15

CHOW TIME — BUT WHO JUST EATS? Look out, Julia Child, your efforts are wasted on us. No one here bothers to chew food twenty-five times, (Chew the fat, maybe, food, Never!) While a few manage to escape uptown for some REAL food, the remaining brownbaggers wait in endless lines for pot luck. We eat, sure, but we do that all day. When else but at lunch can a group gather for an impromptu game of football or frisbee? Where else but in the lunchrooms is the noise level out- done by nothing short of WLEX or the bell’s echo in the curved upstairs corridor? Socializing, study- ing, sunbathing, sleeping ... Lunch?
