Reed The Lexington High Student Council has carried on a very successful year, with Jack Downey as President; Robert Higgins as Vice-president; Jeannette Durfee as Secretary; and Bert Borngesser as Treasurer. The most outstanding accomplishment of the council's activities has been the adoption of a new bell system, which provided us with a much needed activity period everyday. Two dances which earned enough money to buy new uniforms for the cheer- leaders were also sponsored by the Student Council. Jack Downey, Joseph Downey, Robert Joslin, Nancy Powers, Lois Sullivan, and Nola Thomann at- tended the Eastern Massachusetts Student Council Convention in Dedham on December 2, 1950.

HONOR SOCIETY First Row: Miss Kinley, W. Cowles, J. Crosby, J. Johnson, S. Raymond, M. J. Coughlin, Mrs. Whiting Second Row: R. Brown, R. Doyle, W. Johnston, J. Downey, P. Hall, B. Borngesser, Miss Wheeler, L. Hogan At a school assembly on January 23, six seniors were initiated into the National Honor Society in a candlelight ceremony. The members elected last year conducted the program and talks were given on the four qualifications of a National Honor Society member: character, leadership, service, and scholarship. The officers of the Society are President Judith Johnson, Vice- President Sally Raymond, Secretary. Mary-Jane Coughlin, and Treasurer Jo- anna Crosby. The newly elected members are Rose Brown, Wilene Cowles, Jack Downey, Raymond Doyle, Peter Hall, and Lucy Hogan. The faculty committee, Miss Wheeler, Miss Kinley, Mrs. Whiting, and Mr. Moyle, select the students best recommended by the faculty. A few more members were elected in May.
