SG last will anh estament STATE UF NORTH CAROLINA Davmsox COUNTY City of Lexington Lexington Senior High School We, the Senior Class of 1955, realizing that we cannot take our many possessions with us, hereby bestow them upon those students remaining in the school. Being of sound body and excellent mind, we declare this to be our last will and testament to be executed in the following order: ARTICLE I. To The Faculty ITEM I. To our beloved principal, Mr. Wike, we leave a joke book, so that he may compare those cute little quips of his with those of the more famous comedians. ITEM II. To Miss Manning we leave a first period Trig class that will admire and respect her as much as this year's class does. ITEM III. To Miss Gilliam we leave Second Year French students who will make 100's on all her tests. ITEM IV. To Mr. Wagner we leave a band that will attain his highest musical ambition and that will continue to improve as much in the future as it has improved in the past. ITEM V. To Mrs. Hedrick we leave literary-minded students to whom she may teach all the classics of literature with the greatest of ease. ITEM VI. To Coach Presnell Mull we leave another championship football team. ITEM VII. To Mrs. Thompson we leave new Silent- Riters for her typing classes, and we know that her students will then follow suite. ITEM VIII. And to all of the other teachers we fondly leave our respect and admiration for their endeavors to give us a well-rounded education, for their diligence and patience, and for their devotion to their work. ARTICLE II. To The Classes ITEM I. To the Seniors of '55-'56 we leave our love for L.S.H.S. and sincere hopes that they will enjoy being dignified seniors as much as we have. ITEM II. To the Juniors we leave the concession stand and all the joys that come with planing the Junior- Senior. ITEM III. To the Sophomores we leave that wonderful feeling of finally belonging, ITEM IV. To the Freshmen we leave all the hardships, work, fun, and honors to be endured and enjoyed during the next four glorious years. ITEM V. To all the classes we leave a never-dying school spirit and a deep appreciation for the school and its faculty. ARTICLE III. To The Individuals ITEM I. Nancy Covington bequeaths her title of Most Attractive upon Martha Clifford. ITEM II. Edna Haynes wills her good sportsmanship to Marianna Sink, and her athletic ability to Dolores Leonard. ITEM III. Raye Sechrest leaves her exceptional sing- ing talent to Eddie Allred. ITEM IV. Tillie Beck leaves her vivaciousness, and Janet Smith, her cuteness, to Kay Musgrave. Tillie also leaves the Lexhipep in the capable hands of the new staif. ITEM V. Robert Fitzgerald leaves the problems that come with the Prexy's job to next year's president, and we hope that that person can solve them as well as Robert did. ITEM VI. Keith Stamey leaves his amazing French knowledge to Raymond Byrd. ITEM VII. Jane Nave and Leonard Beck leave their wit and witticisms to Ann Gallimore and Charles Helmstetler. ITEM VIII. Curtis VVilliams leaves his charming ability to snow the girls to Moyer Smith and Jakie Lohr. ITEM IX. Mickey Byrd surrenders his magnificient physique to Freddie Peacock. ITEM X. Sarah Swicegood leaves her outstanding ver- satility to Bettie Brinkley. ITEM XI. Eddie Coble leaves his title of cutest and his everlasting expression of boredom to Tommy Green. He also wills his industriousness in the lab to any future lab assistant who wants it. ITEM XII. Caroline Swaim wills her grand personality to Martha Walser. ITEM XIII. Snooky Money leaves her magical key- board techniques to George Wilson. ITEM XIV. Joe Sink, Scott Craven, and Bob Stafford leave their genius for arguing with teachers to Jack Childers. ITEM XV. Levon Weaver leaves his friendliness and sincerity to Skip Stoner, and his growing pills Qwhich don't workj to David Redwine. ITEM XVI. Angella Foster leaves her willingness to work to Alice McCrary. ITEM XVII. Eddie Cathell leaves his magnetic per- sonality to Dwight Bumgarner, and his knowledge of Parliamentary Law to next year's Senior Class President. ITEM XVIII. Mary Mel Farris wills her intellect and efficiency to Nancy Campbell. ITEM XIX. Page Sink leaves all her originality and creativeness to the Juniors of '55-'56, in the hope that they'll come up with a brilliant idea for the Junior-Senior. ITEM XX. Jody Foster leaves her inexhaustible energy to Mary Groth, and Mrs. Hedrick hopes that all that extra energy won't cause her to effervesce. ITEM XXI. Bird-dog leaves to Jackie White the now notorious it,', which was left to him by Coon Miller and which began ages ago with Dirty Everhart. ITEM XXII. George Elkins wills his good sportsman- ship to Lonnie Davis. ITEM XXIII. Susan Stewart leaves her sweetness and her great typing ability to Eilzabeth Pullen. ITEM XXIV. With the consent of the Senior Class, Bobby Timberlake has decided to take his hunting gun with him. VVe, the aforesaid testators, hereby sign our names and atlix our seals to this testimony on this the first day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand, nine hundred and fifty-five. MAECIA BELL, Testator Witnesses: President: EDDIE CATHEL1. Adviser: Mns. OTTrs M. Hi-:muck Principal: ME. C. E. WIKE jfinis To most students the LEXICON depicts recollections of a year. To the LEXICON staff it brings memories of countless hours spent planning, hard work, hop- ing and waiting, and then rejoicing. The small things that go into the making of an annual often slip by unnoticed. yet they are as important and mean as much as the big things, therefore it is with deep appreciation and gratitude that we give this page to say thank you to all who had part in making the 1955 LEXICON a reality. Especially to our advisers, Miss Char- lotte Matthews and Miss Janie Man- ning, who were so patient, willing, and who have given so much of their time and efforts to aid the staffg and to Mr. Wike, Mrs. Frady, and each faculty member, who were so understanding and co-operative, to say thank you is in- deed too little. We also wish to express our thanks to Miss Betty Jo Ring for the many useful helps and suggestions which she gave us. Our literary staff, Angella Foster, Sarah Swicegood, Janet Smith, Nancy Campbell, and George Wilson deserves much praise. Recognition also to Robert Fitzgerald and Dwight Bumgarner for their fine sports section. Our efficient typist was Marilyn Hedrick. Much credit is due Dorcas Penninger for keeping all of our book work in order. Especially to Jimmy Burke, our pho- tographer, we say thanks for a job well done. To our business staff, Caroline Swaim, Marcia Bell, Raymond Byrd, and Charles Helmstetler we express our deep appreciation for their excep- tionally good work. Also to our adver- tisers we say thank you for your support. We wish to express our appreciation to Mr. William Oliver Smith of Ed- wards and Broughton for his invaluable ideas and suggestions, also to Mr. T. A. Redmon's Studio for their exceptional photography. And then, last but not least, to all those wonderful students of Lexington Senior High and all other participants we say, Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
